(I should add that I don’t endorse the manner in which Zoom has also erased healthy boundaries between individuals and their work. Balance is key — this situation was an exception and tuning in was a treat)

Unexpected benefits of Zoom guest lectures...when there are dozens of people and everyone is muted with cameras off...you can listen while showering! Now able to listen in on talks I never would have been able to get to in person. @AcademicChatter

@jw_tsang @AcademicChatter I find it very effective! I do 25 minute writing blocks with 5 minute breaks in between. I also leave myself concluding notes so I can jump right back in where I left off.

@larissapolitics I’ve never heard this but I have heard other forms of place-based discrimination. Things like “if this candidate is from INSERT CITY they won’t like it here and won’t take the job.”

I don't know who needs to hear this today (I do), but the vast majority of the time one spends writing a book isn't spent in writing the book, but rather reading, dreaming, running, walking, experimenting, restarting, writing things that gradually bring you closer to the book.
