@WISN12News This is a misleading and even inaccurate misrepresentation of the situation for our district. Busing has been a problem for awhile and the district is executing on the plan. Note we reduced pay to ride from 2 miles to 1 mile, and no more mid-route bus swaps 🥳 Thank you, HLSD!

Hi, my name is Kristopher Evans, but my friends call me Kpher.

I am a candidate for the HLSD School Board seat up for election on April 7th, and I wanted to briefly introduce myself.

I've been a Hartland community member since 2018, and I have three kids in school here at HLSD… 4K, first grade, and third grade.

I've never run for any office before. I'm a dad, I'm involved in this community, and I started asking questions about our schools… and I just kept going. So here I am to provide you an idea of me as a school board member.

My focus would be simple: kids have to be safe first. That's non-negotiable. Right behind that: they have to be healthy. Because if we're sending them to school and something in that building is working against their mind or their body, that's a problem worth asking questions about.

Are our lunch menus keeping up with the improved nutrition recommendations?

Are we treating recess as a reward, or as the biological need we all know it is?

Is our tech education evolving with technology, driving curiosity while reinforcing -- not working against -- boundaries at home?

And after health it's all the facilities and operations and people that make it all possible.

We've made big strides at improving our busing, beating state requirements, and I'm excited to see us eliminating the mid route swap this upcoming school year that our 4K kids navigate today.

Can we make busing more accessible? Are we getting a good deal from Dousman Transport?

All of this has to live inside a balanced budget. Your budget is your priorities, and mine are straightforward:

1. Safety,
2. Health, and
3. The operations that make everything else possible.

Get those right, and THEN we can teach.

I hope that gives you a little insight about me as a board member.

I'd be honored to earn your vote on April 7th.

Per an ESPN source, Curt Cignetti has agreed to a new deal at Indiana that pushes his annual salary  up to $13.2 million. The deal will go through 2033. Hoosiers have been the ultimate aggressors in keeping Cignetti.
