A wonderful time at the Generation Research symposium 2026, where we got to witness a wide breadth of interesting science happening across institutions, as performed by summer placement students.

Quite a lot of work was performed in the course of the 9-weeks and it has been a very productive summer internship.

It has been an enriching week of bacteriophage based talks, posters and discussions at Viruses of Microbes 2026. This 5-day conference gave me a lot to think about, both in the context of my current PhD project, as well as the future of this field (which is looking very bright!)

Had a wonderful time at Microbiology Society Annual Conference 2026 held in Belfast this year. It was eye opening to interact with researchers from a variety of disciplines. @MicrobioSoc

This conference is particularly useful for PhD students and other early career researchers to expose themselves to a variety of disciplines in microbiology.
