I’ve never won an Olympic gold medal. But I have perfectly rolled up and thrown away a massive blowout diaper without getting poop on my hands.
Same, same, I think.
The truth is, all birth is not beautiful.
The sooner we acknowledge that, the easier it will be for mamas to heal and move forward from whatever trauma or pain their birth experience left them with.
I never heard my mom act embarrassed about how much TV we watched or make excuses for why we got another episode of Rugrats. Screen time was a tool. Sometimes she used it. No excuse or justification needed.
You don’t need one either.
This is what we need:
More mamas judging themselves by the things they do than the things that they don't do.
Whatever it is you're able to do - it's enough.
Resolutions and goals are great.
But don’t you dare forget that who you are right this second is just as good, lovely, and worthy as whoever you’re hoping to be.
I’m so glad my kids are still small enough that they have no idea I eat all the best candy out of their Halloween stash.
“Sorry kids, enjoy those sweeTARTS.”
@racheljwelcher Hiiiii…I share so much more on IG if you really would love some more labor/birth/ppm education. Either way, praying over you and that little one!
Anyone else waiting for all of our kids to ask us why we all took so many photos of our shoes + our hand holding a cup of coffee?
Because honestly, the answer is “I’m not really sure.”
