@nulliedge@daatdarling Initiation implies joining an order or a lineage, both of which are composed of *others*.
If you're going to call yourself "Frater" you have to have fraternity.
@LapisMercurii@IAO131 The hubris is certainly fanned by the self-congratulatory environment of OTO but I think it's a cultural norm at this point to be terminally self-involved in our Therapeutic Society.
@Tom_Rowsell It was an interesting talk. I listened to about half and intend to finish. Fell off in the middle running around speculative metaphysics. It's odd how trad guys still argue from modern sciences both in spite of Guenon and without noticing how they're as contrived/fake as Qabalah.
@IAO131 Unless there is.
Crowley was pretty descriptive and sourced his arguments diligently. He leaned heavily on Nietzsche's Will to Power, as you know. Not so circular.
Have you read Deleuze's Nietzsche book? It's excellent and I think you'd like it.
@IAO131 Catholics argue from "natural law" and appeal to ecological examples to buttress their morals. Not exactly the same thing, and it seems sincere and restrained to me.
Irreligious people do likewise. Seems sincere to me.
@PsychonautTech@IAO131@alanbnogueira People don't like being threatened with a lawsuit, especially when OTO has a million in the bank and they're scraping by as an indy publisher.

@IAO131 They are litigatory. For some years after they pulled the rug out from under Motta they would read the court decision on OTO v Motta *during the initiation*.
