How Black children in England’s schools are made to feel like the way they speak is wrong - by this year's Harold Rosen Lecturer @ian_cushing https://t.co/v4kXIrSh3w
This is a thread of my favourite Aussie slang. It’s a mixed bag of widely known vs regional, brand-new vs outdated etc. I had a neighbour in Melbourne for 5 years who spoke almost entirely in slang from the ’60s (so shout out to Frances from Mentone for teaching me lots of them!)
This half term I've worked on an update of my A-Level Language Diversity schemes. I started with Gender as I wanted more up-to-date research in there etc. There are 10 lessons in total. Hope it helps. More diversity units to follow. https://t.co/aHY5CpRJhr
I have created two Teacher Guides for A Level English Language Paper One and Paper Two which may be useful for those starting to teach this in September! https://t.co/ZXZ4JWB8bJ #TeamEnglish
a-level language teachers: my Y12s wanted some knowledge overviews for each language level. I’ve started with lexis but will be doing the other language levels as and when I can. It may save someone some time! Link here in case your picture saves blurry https://t.co/mKj1rRbKXL
I am starting a mini-unit on Language and Sexuality with Y12 English Language class and created a short resource with key reading, theorists and a summary sheet. Here is the link - use / chuck / change as you see fit! https://t.co/O2fiVDxKUo

@AlisonJWoolcock@Team_English1@McnicolStewart@BrigshawEngP16 The advice is supposed to ‘help students revise’, but in reality, this offers no support when the key to these questions is rooted in an understanding of uses of language. Genre, of course, plays a role, but isn’t something which is particularly useful to know before the exam.
@weischoice Time commitment is flexible to suit the individual - tutors can take on as many or as few students as suits them. Pay will vary dependant on how much work is taken on.
