FG, NADF Distribute 100,800 Bags of Fertilizer to 25,200 Farmers in North-West
Katsina State - 20th June, 2026
The Federal Government, through the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), has flagged off the North-West Zonal Farm Input Support Programme (FISP) Phase I with the distribution of 100,800 bags of fertilizer to 25,200 smallholder farmers across Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Kebbi and Jigawa States.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Katsina State, the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, @SenatorAKyari CON, described the intervention as a strategic investment in food security and rural economic growth, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The Minister disclosed that each of the five beneficiary states received 20,160 bags of fertilizer for onward distribution to 5,040 registered farmers in collaboration with the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN).
He noted that the programme is aimed at closing productivity gaps among smallholder farmers while simultaneously supporting indigenous fertilizer producers to scale up production, thereby creating jobs and strengthening Nigeria’s food system.
Senator Kyari recalled that the Federal Government had earlier launched the AgGrow-1 initiative, which linked agro-processors with registered smallholder farmers to guarantee market access and improve value chain efficiency.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to food security, the Minister said targeted interventions being implemented under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are helping to stabilize food prices, moderate inflationary pressures and restore confidence in Nigeria’s agro-economic transformation.
“Food security is not won in a single day. It is won season by season, farmer by farmer, input by input. Today, the North-West has taken its turn,” Senator Kyari stated.

Ministry of Agriculture Positions Nigeria as Africa’s Emerging Agro-Industrial Hub Through SAPZ Programme
The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, @SenatorAKyari CON, has said Nigeria is strategically positioning itself as an emerging agro-industrial hub and gateway to Africa through the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Programme.
Speaking at a Breakfast Roundtable on the establishment of a One-Stop-Shop (OSS) Framework for the SAPZ Programme in Abuja, the Minister said the initiative should be viewed within the broader context of positioning Nigeria as a preferential access point to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which offers access to a market of about 1.3 billion people.
He noted that as global capital becomes increasingly selective, investors are seeking coordinated ecosystems characterized by favourable policies, reliable infrastructure and credible institutions. According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is repositioning agriculture from a production sector into a platform for industrialization, food sovereignty, job creation and inclusive prosperity.
Describing the SAPZ Programme as Nigeria’s flagship instrument for structural economic reform and a pathway to food sovereignty, Senator Kyari said the establishment of Agro-Industrial Hubs and Agricultural Transformation Centres would create investment destinations linking production to processing and connecting local opportunities to regional and global markets.
The Minister explained that the proposed One-Stop-Shop Framework is a strategic catalyst for ease of doing agribusiness, aimed at integrating approvals, regulatory support, investment facilitation and operational coordination into a seamless platform for investors.
He expressed confidence that the success of the SAPZ Programme would position Nigeria as Africa’s most compelling destination for agro-industrial investment and called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to build a system that demonstrates that Nigeria is open and ready for business.
Senator Kyari thereafter declared the technical session on the establishment of the One-Stop-Shop Framework for the SAPZ Programme open.
OPERATION HADIN KAI DELIVERS ANOTHER DECISIVE BLOW TO ISWAP TERRORISTS
The Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI has once again demonstrated its operational dominance and combat readiness by successfully defeating ISWAP attack and launching a devastating counter-offensive against the terrorists in the Buratai axis.
In the early hours of 19 June 2026, ISWAP terrorists launched multiple attacks on troops’ locations at Dusten Kura and Chara road in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State. The alert troops, supported by robust intelligence, promptly detected the incursion and responded with superior firepower in a well-coordinated air and ground counter-attack.
The prompt and effective employment of the Air Component of OPHK, particularly Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance as well as precision strike platforms from the Nigerian Air force, proved decisive. The precision air support integrated seamlessly with ground forces, disrupted the terrorists’ assault and inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers, forcing them to flee in confusion. It is worthy to note that no casualties were recorded on own troops, while the terrorists suffered significant losses in personnel and equipment.
This latest success underscores the high state of readiness of OPHK troops and the synergy between the ground and air components in maintaining relentless pressure on the terrorists. The Theatre Command remains committed to denying insurgents freedom of action and ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens across the North East theatre.
The public is urged to continue providing timely intelligence to security forces and to remain vigilant. OPHK would comtinue to sustain aggressive offensive operations to decisively degrade terrorist capabilities and restore lasting peace to the region.
