@That_DeAngelo Aaand I think that about covers my unconventional recs. But Iβll give another shout out for Jane Eyre which is one of my favorite books and also has an excellent Broadway adaption. You donβt get HIGH society in that book but you do get manners and propriety and gothic romance.
@That_DeAngelo If the last tweet sound good until βin the form of operaβ you could instead check out the work do Oscar Wilde the famous playwright and author. My personal fav is The Importance of Being Earnest and there were a couple versions on Netflix at one point.
@That_DeAngelo Any reason regency specifically? itβs a pretty narrow time period (1811-1820) Lots of interesting stuff in the Victorian era too since you get rising industrialization and changing class consciousness. It was also quite long so thereβs just more people writing.
@That_DeAngelo For something unconventional Lost in Austen where a modern girl swaps lives with Lizzy Bennet of Pride and Prejudice and ends up changing the plot in interesting ways. Itβs fun in a bad movie kind of way and I could see SciFi inspirations happening
@That_DeAngelo Anything Jane Austen is generally considered regency and generally BBC mini series are the best place to go for authenticity and quality.
@arcanegold You seem to be taking this particular bit better than I did. I mostly just felt an incredible dissonance hearing a heart wrenching song about being forced to leave home interposed with a cartoon villain singing βcome my minions rise for you master, let your evil shine.β π
