#Horrific Yesterday in Siwan, Bihar, police reportedly used firearms against protesting students. Around 10 rounds were allegedly fired from AK-47 rifles, leaving three students with bullet injuries. They are currently in critical condition and undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital.

Protesters must never be met with bullets. Those responsible must be held accountable through an independent and transparent investigation and strict action should be taken against anyone found to have violated the law. In a democracy, dissent cannot be answered with gunfire.

IMPORTANT: Several videos showing police excesses against student protestors are deeply disturbing and must be investigated. But there are also videos of stone-pelting and vandalism by some protestors. Violence, whoever commits it, cannot be justified. @CJP_for_India must unequivocally condemn ALL violence to ensure legitimate anger does not descend into anarchy. And the real issues of urgent exam reform don’t get lost as a result.🙏
