I think Meta fundamentally took the wrong approach. They thought that if they rushed a product out when Twitter was down, they could grow a user base. In fairness, they did. Timing along with the simple onboarding process let Thr3ads grow rapidly, but the app was unfinished… it had a horrible algorithm, was missing basic features like hashtags and searching, and wasn’t a pleasant experience to use. They got a massive amount of people to join, but didn’t think about the fact that they had one shot to create something special - people aren’t going to come back if their first experience is poor. I think they should have waited until it was feature packed and stable - then they would have had a chance…
