I’m concerned with influencing policy so all of us get the best possible health and social care at minimal cost from state funded, truly not for profit agencies
@Barb59967443593@rugbyintel Yip, and the Mayor of London likened private public partnership contracts to ‘millstones round the necks’ of London hospitals.

@GaryPayinda Worth looking at examples of ‘public private partnership (PPP) health care failures in UK. Mayor of London believed PPP projects to be ‘a millstone round the necks’ of London hospitals.
Check out the background for sound arguments against:

@Stephen_Neville @nzherald Well he did make a sensible commitment to GP referrals for radiographic assessment no longer requiring a co-payment. Would like to assume he ‘forgot’ this would apply to NP referrals too and this will be fixed down the track 😉
@CiceroMD@NZNationalParty Same should apply for all social policy; health, housing, education, etc. We’re a tiny population with resources to suit and vacillating policy positions attached to some political fancy spanning a 3 year vision isn’t going to cut it.
Bit of a long read but good background as to why no political party should be reliant on Chinese investment to prop up unfunded promises:

@Jennifercarryer Agree. Prevailing GP model operates on treating sick people - some of that will always be needed but primary health care must refocus on preventing ill health. Hoping Te Mana Hauora Māori lights the way addressing social determinants of health with NPs / nurses in the mix.
@1CommonReader @chrisluxonmp I’m in the UK right now - inflation knocking on the door of 10% - public sector is suffering as a result of any +ve Tory policy intent - nurses stretched beyond their limits due to workload pressure with inadequate financial reward. Echoes of home but worse.
So, Minister Little is willing to pay for any medical doctor who wishes to train as a GP. It would be logical then (perhaps more so) to make a similar commitment to any nurse wishing to be educated to work as a Nurse Practitioner in primary health care.
