Bit of a break from politics. Here's a wonderful & very emotional clip from Band of Brothers.
WWII has ended. The German forces have surrendered and a German general asks permission to give a parting address to his soldiers.
The men listen as the General's words are translated by an American soldier. Its interesting to observe the faces of the allied troops, as they slowly realise that the words of the German General apply just as well to themselves.
Then the unspoken thought arises. Have they been fighting and killing their own brothers?
The overall scene is a brilliant comment on who really suffers from wars. Its a very succinct and understated message that has more impact for the subdued manner by which it is conveyed.
IMHO a wonderful piece of screenplay.
@MaxSky44342795 Luxon going to Labour to get his phony under sixteen ban was the tipping point for me. Given its a foundational strategy in the left's attack on internet free speech across the west, the Nats should never have touched this law. He's just utterly hopeless IMHO.
"I'm very open to that"
On Radio NZ today, National leader Chris Luxon said he will happily work with Labour to get legislation through that his coalition partners will not support.
Now you now why it is essential that National's power is reduced as much as possible in any elected centre right coalition.
Simple as. If you're a centre right supporter, then shifting your vote from National to ACT or NZ First will help prevent this kind of treachery and simultaneously keep the left out of govt.
Most importantly, it will stop the wet woke wavering Mr Luxon giving Labour the power you never granted them.
Mr Luxon says he's not a politician. Its time he bloody well became one. The left are attacking free speech across the West. If Luxon would rather work with Labour to help them on this rather than with ACT & NZ First to prevent it, then he's useless to us.
Little known historical fact. The Stasi, the secret police of the East German communist state, were highly "educated" university graduates who considered themselves the elite of society. They locked up around 200,000 East German citizens for "crimes" like wrong think/ speech.
So much truth spoken in this video. The left are, as he says, "taking the gloves off" as their long term objective of a one party state starts to slip from their grasp. Watch them revert to type. The same old same old tyrants behind every communist state in history.
In the UK & across the West the Socialist/ Communist Governments has lost mass support, they are being exposed for their abuse, their lies & the people are turning against them.
As expected, they are targeting their opposition & those that expose or challenge them.
We are only a few steps away from them bringing back the Gulags ☠️
Bombshell findings have revealed bureaucrats have green-lighted almost 100 per cent of Labor's invite-only grants, following revelations Labor HQ was involved in selecting taxpayer-funded projects.

@ajthompson13 "Production, transport, distribution and other underlying costs all contribute to what consumers pay.”
Yes, all seriously impacted by the cost of building the new transmission network that is needed to deliver electricity from wind & solar farms.
Possibly not the worst thing Luxon has ever done, but pretty bad all the same.
Giving flowers & kissing up to a departing Marxist revolutionary who was so extreme even a left wing basket case like TV One didn't want her.
She despises you Mr Luxon. What is the matter with you?
Winston Peters is dead right about New Zealand's DEI defence forces.
Fancy Senior Officers being forced to sign a"gender equality charter".
Defence Force Chief Short is gone now but who knows if his replacement is any better.
(Its notable that Army Chief Rose King was appointed under Judith Collin's watch. Judith has always said she is a staunch feminist.)
As Winston says, its BS to bring this warped ideology into the NZ Defence Forces.
Like termites, hollowing the forces out from the inside. Something that provides a pointer as to who the people are behind all of this woke infiltration.
They're not our friends.
"Can you rule out someone like that becoming Defence Minister".
Legacy media, chock full of DEI hires itself, is unhappy with NZ First candidate Ron Mark's criticism of DEI in the Defence Forces.
Ron Marks is right, but he gets no back up from National leader Chris Luxon, who accuses him of "cosplaying Pete Hegseth".
Of course one of the best things NZ could do for defence is sack all of the current hierarchy and replace them with Mr Hegseth. (US Secretary of War).
As he's not available, it sounds like Ron Marks would be a suitable replacement.
The damn fools in charge of the $200 million dollar Manawanui and who were sailing it that afternoon were unqualified and unbelievably, had no idea how to release an engaged auto-pilot.
The National party (and especially Luxon's) own woke commitment to DEI is why they continue to support this insanity.
IMHO there should have been a lot more Defence force staff charged over this incident.
The DEI that caused it was driven right from the top.
Media's promotion of TOP is a strategy to make sure that Labour is installed. We shouldn't be surprised at their brazen bias. Their survival is tied to grants of taxpayer money & Labour have already made that promise. A reminder of how state funded media poisons democracy.
Another disappointing effort from Mr Luxon. Here's the full story.
National MP Maureen Pugh asked Greens leader James Shaw about a letter that her local council had sent to him requesting clarification on climate change.
Shaw’s reported response was that he "did not have time for people who do not believe in the science".
Pugh was questioned by Shaw's media comrades. She said she believed that climate changes, but had yet to see evidence of a human cause, adding “I am waiting on the evidence from the Minister (Shaw).”
This statement caused a deluge of criticism from within Pugh's own National party. Deputy leader Nicola Willis stated the science was clear- that human emissions contribute, and said she had “a lot she (Pugh) can read, she’s gonna be doing a lot of reading.”
Leader Luxon said he too had seen the evidence and asserted there was "no place in the National caucus for climate deniers or minimisers".
Within hours Pugh issued a statement agreeing human induced climate change was real. She also apologised to Luxon.
Luxon then spent days in the legacy media throwing Pugh under the bus.
IMHO it was yet another example of how Luxon and Willis have bullied and cowed into silence any Nat MP who disagrees with their progressive/ globalist political views.
I also think Maureen was right the first time.
@NukedMouse Yep- the use of the word "denier", with its obvious connotation to the holocaust was always a give away. True scientists would never use blatantly subjective terminology like that.
@Rockynz_1 Good work Rocky. That poll had National a long way down and the Greens a long way up. Funny how the distortions fit in so well with RNZ's political stance.
@RCR_NZ National are battling to preserve their share of the centre right vote when it just is not there any more. Their intractability could easily result in a Labour victory. National's leaders have lost the plot & there needs to be a reckoning after the election. Win or lose.
So many good people trying to do the right thing by National, while its leader (s) stubbornly persist with the 2 ticks blue strategy. @RCR_NZ have funded this NZ Herald ad while Luxon stumbles around seemingly determined to lose the election for the centre right. Crazy!
