Adding my support here to GC and the other former international captains. I hope the court ordered medical assessment be allowed to run its course, and that family visits continue. I hope Imran Khan is treated with the dignity anyone deserves
Prime Minister @andyburnham and Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband : how much longer will Britain remain silent?
For three years the father of my two sons, and Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has been brutally penalised by his political opponents, in a personal vendetta by Army Chief, Asim Munir, which according to the UN, amounts to torture and which is now taking a potentially fatal toll on his physical and mental health.
He has endured 3 years of solitary confinement. For nearly ten months now his family has been denied contact with him. He has been deprived of the most basic human contact, denied access to books, lawyers and doctors.
The international human-rights standards are unequivocal. Under the UN’s Nelson Mandela Rules, solitary confinement lasting more than 15 consecutive days is prohibited and amounts to torture.
He has endured this treatment not for 15 days, but for three years.
Pakistan’s own Supreme Court has now intervened: ordering comprehensive medical treatment, access to his personal doctor, regular family visits and twice-weekly calls with his sons.
Yet those orders are being defied.
This is no longer simply a Pakistani political matter. It is a human-rights emergency.
He has deep and lifelong ties to Britain. He studied at Oxford University, captained Oxford University cricket and spent years playing county cricket in England. His relationship with this country stretches back more than half a century. His charitable activities were internationally recognised, and include building the only free cancer hospital in Pakistan as well as a university.
His sons, my two boys, Sulaiman and Kasim, are British citizens. They have been forced to watch their father’s health decline from thousands of miles away, prevented from visiting him, denied visas, publicly threatened by government officials with arrest themselves, and even denied court-mandated regular phone calls.
I have repeatedly appealed to the UK government to intervene. Purported attempts at back channelling have evidently failed. The previous Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy informed me in writing that Britain would not intervene if my sons, British citizens, are arrested when they travel to Pakistan to visit their father.
@FCDOGovUK: Britain must now speak out publicly and unequivocally. Demand that Pakistan comply with its own Supreme Court; restore Imran Khan’s medical access, his right to see his family, end his prolonged isolation and uphold his fundamental human rights.
Pakistan is a Commonwealth country. Britain has a long and proud tradition of standing against arbitrary detention, inhumane treatment and the denial of fundamental rights. Those principles mean very little if we invoke them only selectively and neglect them when inconvenient.
This an appeal to the new Burnham government to please now do the right thing.
Elections in the Pakistani-administered territories of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir - Despite unprecedented violence by the military in Ggit Baltistan, jailed Imran Khan's party led the polls before results were shut down. 2024 being repeated with extra violence.
I fail to understand how a vast majority of Pakistanis simplu ignored Imran Khan's anti-war views during the 2000s.
War is now everywhere and Imran Khan like a sage who foretold the future, is absolved from the burden we all will be carrying for the rest of our lives .
Cricket Legends Walk Into Jail Cell of Imran Khan
Demands:
Immediate, adequate and ongoing medical attention from qualified specialists of HIS CHOOSING
Dignified conditions of detention in line with international standards, including regular visits by close FAMILY MEMBERS
Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar among 14 former international cricket captains requesting Pakistan Govt for fair medical treatment, dignified detention conditions and fair trial for Imran Khan
These guys have shown how they may have been rivals on the field but will be friends forever
IMP: The list has no Pakistani name on it. Sad
The Chief Justice of Pakistan had directed that Imran Khan be allowed to speak with his sons. We can confirm that he was able to speak with them for approximately 20 minutes. His sons shared that he was extremely happy to hear their voices after such a long time.
We are now awaiting his urgent medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad under the supervision of his personal doctors, where specialist doctors must make every possible effort to restore his eyesight. The intentional delay in providing him timely treatment has already caused damage to his eyesight. We cannot and will not tolerate any further delay, and immediate specialist care is essential to prevent any permanent loss of vision.
Behind the scenes in a fascist regime.
This is how ASP Shehrbano Naqvi talks to the police about dealing with peaceful protestors. Under such threats, police is more likely to shoot at protestor - and they do.
Jemima @Jemima_Khan Thanks for raising this issue! Interesting that both Twitter (X) & YouTube have surrendered to fascist regimes in Israel & Pakistan! My X reach has gone down since its opening in Pakistan & I have lost 100,000 subscribers in the last few months!
Gotta love the PTI Social Media Video Editors; outstanding understanding of beats & lyrics, and second to none collection of IK clips that they use in these video edits.
What a fantastic tribute to IK on the 800 days of resilience!

Just imagine if Trump had stood with Netanyahu & said: “Imran Khan has been with us from day one.”
The whole country would’ve been on fire. Religious parties would’ve declared PTI as an “Israeli party” & labeled it Jewish.
But when the same was said about Shehbaz Sharif, witnessed by the whole world in that press conference where Netanyahu even declared victory, the religious parties went silent.
No Saad Rizvi at Faizabad, no Jamaat-e-Islami or Fazlur Rehman’s Palestine march, no Mufti Taqi Usmani or Tahir Ashrafi in sight.
