For those who have heard me dropping hints lately, the cat is officially out of the bag. For everyone else—surprise! I’m officially announcing my intention to run for Chatham-Kent Council in Ward 1 for the 2026 municipal election.
With the upcoming ward boundary changes, things look a little different, but this area is home. From growing up in Wheatley to the time I’ve spent in Merlin, Tilbury, and of course Dealtown. I know the heart of this community.
Why am I running?
Like many of you, I’m tired of the "status quo." Chatham-Kent is facing some real financial hurdles, and I believe we need a fresh set of eyes and ears on Council. I want to be a voice that focuses on keeping us on the right path while finding ways to ease the financial burden so many of us are feeling.
How you can help right now:
Even if we are already friends here, please head over and "Like" , what will become, my official campaign page to stay updated on the platform and upcoming events:

Please share this post with your friends and family—especially if they live in Ward 1! I’m looking forward to sharing much more with you all once the campaign officially kicks off sometime after May 1st.
Let’s get to work!

Secret Meetings & The OHL: What happened to transparency?
Tonight’s Chatham-Kent council meeting got heated, and for good reason.
It came to light that the Mayor, the CAO, and a hand-picked group of councillors held a private meeting with the OHL regarding a potential expansion team for CK. The catch? Not all of Council was invited. In fact, many didn't even know it was happening.
The Core Issues:
Gatekeeping Information: It appears only councillors who previously supported the twin-pad arena/rec complex were given a seat at the table.
Lack of Transparency: Excluding elected officials based on their stance on a project undermines the democratic process. Every ward deserves to be represented in conversations of this magnitude.
Public Trust: If major discussions regarding the future of CK sports and infrastructure are happening behind closed doors with "select" members, what else is being decided without full oversight?
Transparency isn't optional—it’s a requirement. Our elected officials shouldn't be "siloed" based on whether they agree with the Mayor's vision or not. We need a Council that works together, shares information, and respects the roles of all members, regardless of their voting record.
I want to hear from you:
Do you think it’s fair for the Mayor to "hand-select" who gets to attend OHL meetings? Or should the entire council be kept in the loop on projects that could cost taxpayers millions?

🏒 Oh, Canada… Turn Those Frowns Upside Down! 🇨🇦
I’m not mad, I’m just… well, okay, maybe a little second-hand embarrassed. 😬
Losing to the USA in the Olympic final? It hurts. It stings. It’s a national day of mourning. But watching the medal ceremony was the real "iced coffee" to the face. Not a single smile. Not one. You’d think they were being handed a property tax assessment instead of Olympic Silver. 🥈
A few observations from the podium:
* The Vibe: It wasn't "valiant effort." It was "I just found out Tim Hortons ran out of crullers." 🍩
* The Stuffy: Even the poor mascot plushies looked uncomfortable being held by such a grumpy group. 🧸
* The Experience Factor: I actually expected more composure from the guys who play (or played) for the Maple Leafs. You’d think they’d be experts at handling a "not-first-place" finish by now! Practice makes perfect, right? 🔵⚪️
The Bottom Line:
Look, we get it—Silver isn’t Gold. But you’re standing on an Olympic podium representing your country while the rest of us are watching in our pajamas eating direct-from-the-bag shredded cheese.
Be thankful for the hardware and the opportunity! Coming home with Silver is a massive achievement, even if it feels like a consolation prize in the moment. Let’s show a little class, eh?
What do you guys think? Is the "sore loser" look a bad reflection on us, or do you like seeing that they're that heartbroken over anything less than Gold? Let’s argue in the comments. 👇

Imagine coming as a refugee to Canada, receiving $82k/year and protesting because of processing delays in your chosen immigration program.
It's time to close these programs, reject applications, and ship all freeloaders back to where they came from.
@KingaSurmaMPP and @TrevorJonesCKL why is it that Chatham-Kent has a cap on OCIF and coming in with a $19million short fall while surrounding communities get so much more? The residents of CK want fair and equal treatment and our share to keep taxes down. #CKBudget2027@MunicCK
@MelissaLMRogers@CarymaRules Under fascism, the economy and other parts of society are heavily and closely controlled by the government, usually by using a form of authoritarian corporatism, where companies and workers are supposed to work together under national unity.
Sounds like a Liberal Government
@fordnation needs to give his head a shake, and a good long shake. The people of Ontario are not on the same page as Ford. This Canadian brand is a staple. It sucks that they will close Amherstburg, but that's businesses. Fix taxes and healthcare.
