For the first time in American history, they have a specific place to go. 

Texas Children's Hospital just made a huge reversal. They ended gender-transition services, terminated five doctors who performed these interventions on minors, and opened America's first ever Detransition Clinic. 

This came as part of a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, following a lawsuit over the hospital billing Medicaid for these procedures under false diagnosis codes. ⚖️

For the first five years, the clinic will offer free medical care to any patient who underwent these procedures, recognizing the damage done and that those children need real support in the aftermath.

I’m sure you all remember Avery Jackson, the “trans girl” who, at 9, was on the cover of National Geographic in January of 2017. Avery was given the gold standard in gender affirming care: he was chemically castrated and sterilized with “blockers” to hold off male puberty.

Now Avery has come out as “nonbinary” and chosen not to pursue transition, meaning that his puberty was blocked for no reason — but that’s not the worst part. He also identifies as asexual, meaning that he doesn’t experience sexual attraction.

This is undoubtedly the result of the medication used to delay male puberty. The president of WPATH, Dr, “Marci” Bowers, has said on camera that so-called puberty blockers, which are used to chemically castrate sex offenders, chemically castrate the young boys who take them as well, leaving them incapable of arousal or orgasm.

For adult sex offenders, the process is reversible. For boys like Avery, the effects are permanent. He will never feel sexual attraction, or any of the experiences that accompany it. He is also completely sterile; he will never father a child, and his own childhood was spent in the national spotlight. The blockers he was given have also stunted his physical and mental development in irreversible ways. We know from the experiences of other “trans” children that he will never sexually mature - neither physically nor emotionally. All of these things were stolen from him, and he has said that transitioning “ruined my life.”

It’s high time that we stop pretending that children can make an informed decision to transition or take blockers, even if their doctors are honest about the risks and consequences — which most are not.

Blockers are not a pause button. They are not reversible. The intellectual deficits they cause will never repair themselves, and neither will the damage done to the child victim’s body, or to their emotional intelligence and maturity. This will, of course, make it easier to push them into transitioning; ie, to sell them hormones and provide surgical alterations.

Parents like Avery’s, who try to monetize their child’s struggles with gender identity, belong in prison, not on television, and so do the doctors and politicians who were complicit in his chemical castration and sterilization.

💥 This morning, @The_Nationals MP Alison Penfold introduced a bill to amend the Sex Discrimination Act and restore sex-based rights and protections for women and girls.

💥 Her speech was excellent, and unlike similar bills, hers was not stopped in its tracks.

💥 Then, at a press conference, she and Senator @mattjcan stood shoulder to shoulder with @salltweets - THE WOMAN who represents every woman and girl who has been vilified, punished or harmed as a result of the lie that men can be women.

I'm so tired of having to see my body in the mirror and facing how disfigured my chest is from 7 years of HRT, my whole adolescence. Every time I look at my breasts or have aching pain from the lumps in my bones I see the faces of the people who did this to me and I can't help but start to feel hate towards them and towards all of the institutions who were supposed to help me find justice but refused too. I'm disgusted with how many snakes exist in this world.

The creation of the first detransitioner clinic at Texas Children's Hospital is a massive win and a big step toward exposing the lie that “gender-affirming care” is evidence based and medically necessary.

Gender doctors and activists have to be FORCED to acknowledge detransitioners because their existence shines a bright light on the pseudoscientific lie that everyone is born with an innate and immutable gender identity we all sense from toddlerhood, that it can be misaligned from our bodies, and that this mismatch can be corrected with puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries.

Thank you for caring about youth who have suffered twice, both before gender affirming care and now BECAUSE gender affirming care caused them harm. Hard to believe people exist that don’t care at all about these children, or worse, demonize them or anyone who wants to help them. They deserve only compassion and care.
