i think it’s important to call out the difference in the way the nhl has interacted with heated rivalry vs off campus because it’s GLARING but i also think it’s important to note that the nhl didn’t deny hr any rights. hr never requested them to begin with and i would be lying if i said im not incredibly happy hr decided to stay distant from the start. by changing the team names they didn’t need to seek permission etc and it means they can tell the story how they want without having any ties to the nhl making them tone anything down. i think that will be well worth it with the long game’s material.
