things evan did on his own
-drew and designed his own lightstick
- drew gliddy along his team
-put his own ad-libs and freestyled his gayo dance break
-made his own fanchant himself
- designed the candle in his bandana
- wrote the while album himself and his own input went into the album as a whole
he's so sexy for this 🔥 its so rare to see an idol with this level of creativity across music, design, and performance!
I will not accept any "personal opinions", "criticisms" or "honest reviews" during death of me release. This is not a democracy, this is a cult. Any negative thought, keep it to yourself or save it for your therapist.
Q: You've revealed that you battled childhood cancer. Since your debut in 2020, there must have been many opportunities to talk about this — I'm curious why you found the courage to bring it up now, and how it has influenced your outlook on life and your career as a singer.
🐹 To be honest... as you can tell from the title, the album "Death of Me" connects with the content of the song "Death of Me" that I explained earlier.
🐹 Since this album carries my inner self, I wanted to naturally lay out all of my story. In that process, I ended up naturally opening up about the moments that shaped my thinking and my values. That period is, in the end, fully bound up with the message I want to convey, and since I went through that experience myself, I hope you'll focus on how important this message is.
🐹 The treatment process for childhood cancer is brutal and painful. It would be a lie to say that going through that treatment hasn't influenced who I am today. In the end, I hope you'll see this as a moment I had to talk about in order to show you my inner self exactly as it is.
🐹 So, taking this opportunity, I know are people all across the country suffering from childhood cancer, and if this story reaches them, I want to offer them hope and comfort.
Evan congratulates ENHYPEN on topping the Billboard 200 when asked about the group during his press showcase:
"I'm proud, ranking number one on the Billboard 200 is not an easy goal to achieve, so I think the best thing to do is for us is to work hard and show a good performance in our respective positions."
really recontextualizes a lot of his career decisions. you can’t live for others when you’ve experienced first hand how limited your time on earth is. even when those others are fans or group mates who believe he owes them loyalty. while other idols might stay around in a group while unhappy for years, he had to go his own way. kpop is often a two way parasocial street and i’m glad he hasn’t fallen victim to it.
Evan talks about being diagnosed with cancer when he was younger:
"The treatment process wasn’t easy, but when I saw how my mom took care of me nonstop, I wanted to put on a brave face for her. When the hospital held events like talent shows for the patients, I’d play guitar and even host them.
I dreamed of being a singer ever since I was six, but to be honest, back then I didn’t really have the mental bandwidth to even think about that. I’d watch my friends pass away and kept thinking, “I want to live so badly, I want to go home.”
Thankfully I made it through treatment and got to go on with my life, but fitting back in with my friends wasn’t easy.
I had a lot less energy, and since my hair was still growing back from chemo, I got teased a lot for it. My friends would be like, “What is that, grass? You’re like a monk.” But I just took it because I wanted to fit in. Once I got to middle school, I had some good friends, but I wasn’t as outgoing as before.
I became more of an introvert. I haven’t thought about that in a long time. It hurts to bring it back up."
seeing evan look like he was right on the verge of tears completely broke me. he didn't even drop a single tear, but you could just see the entire journey written in his eyes. it was like he was trying so hard to hold all his emotions in, and honestly, that hurts even more to watch. it really hasn't been an easy road for him to get to this point. he’s had to face so much pressure and so many hurdles just to be able to stand on that stage as his true self. to see him carry all of that so quietly, work so hard in the dark, and then step out under those lights alone takes a kind of strength that makes me emotional just thinking about it. but seeing him just stand there at the end, looking out at the crowd and soaking in all the love, you could just feel the exact moment the weight of everything caught up to him. it was like pure relief and disbelief all at once. i just hope he looked at that ocean of fans and realized he made it through the storm, and that he is so deeply loved just for who he is.
evan, you have no idea how much you mean to us. seeing you shine as a soloist, completely free and pouring your whole soul into this new era, is the most beautiful thing in the world. thank you for fighting to be here. thank you for not giving up on your dream. we are so incredibly proud of you, and we’re going to be right here by your side for everything next. you are never, ever alone 🤍

the more i think about everything the more it annoys me. and people choosing to ignore it annoy me even more.
we all are aware (i hope) that pretty much every member has by now, in one way or another, shown that they have their own interests, ambitions and things they would like to explore individually. and that’s expected and completely normal because they’re seven different people. seven different artists. of course they’re not all going to want the exact same things forever.
and yet almost everything about enhypen has always been built around them existing as a unit. as a group.
even their brand work has been always group centered. they’re almost six years into their career and they still don’t have individual instagram accounts. for them, individual schedules and projects are still very limited compared to idols of their gen.
and before someone jumps me, i know an ig account or a solo brand deal alone doesn’t mean artistic freedom. it’s the fact that when you put ALL of these things together, you start noticing a pattern.
if you look at other 4th gen groups, their members are able to release solo songs, write, produce, have their own accounts, do individual campaigns, perform solo stages, explore their own image…and then go right back to promoting with their group like normal.
so why does it always feel like enhypen can’t have both?
that’s the part i hate.
i never wanted any of them to have to choose between enhypen and figuring out who they are as artists.
i want all of them to be able to pursue what they want regardless. without every conversation eventually becoming “well, enhypen’s schedule is too packed to do that”…
but who set that schedule up in the first place?
what’s the point of filling every second of their time if it leaves them with barely any space to grow as individuals?
and i think that’s what gets to me the most now. seeing how much more someone can discover about themselves when they’re finally given the space to actually be involved in their own music, ideas, visuals and direction just makes me wish they could’ve had that kind of space while still being in the group too.
i don’t want them separated. i want the exact opposite.
i want them together, but i also want them to be allowed to grow into their own artists too.
i just don’t understand why it feels so difficult to have both.
