Traces of Texas reader Rene Garza thoughtfully shared this wonderful photo of her aunts. Says Rene: "These are my Aunts Rose and Berta, a duet known as 'Las Hermanas Fernandez.' They were from San Antonio and were recording artists who sang together during the 30’s and early 40’s. They are photographed here at the Dallas Park Fairgrounds when they performed at the Texas Centennial in 1936. My aunt Rose later became a solo artist known as 'Rosita.' She had a prolific career as a singer and actress, released many albums, and was inducted into the Tejano Music Hall of Fame. Rosita’s Bridge on the San Antonio Riverwalk is named for her. She was featured in the Disney movie Sancho the Homing Steer (which would also make great content for your account). Rosita was later named 'San Antonio’s First Lady of Song' by Lady Bird Johnson."
