@conormbrady @MDVisas @gsiskind An OPT candidate can stay out of the US indefinitely as long as your company is remote, you are in full compliance of the OPT guidelines. if you decide to re-enter the US, F1 is classified as essential travel; so you are good.

If you're a new int. student or know anyone who is newly admitted. It will be advisable to take a leave of absence or defer the fall semester. Apparently, ICE didn't completely rescind the student ban.

if you consider taking the Fall semester off to return in Jan 2021. Try not to be absent beyond 5 months, or else you will lose your active status.
if you are a new student, and you defer more than 5 months, you will need a new I20.
