My name is Boniface Mwangi, and l turn 40 today. I want to celebrate this milestone with Gandhi Muturi, a 27-year-old photographer, activist, and motorcycle rider who was involved in a life-changing accident last year.
On 14th October 2022, while riding home, Gandhi was involved in a road crash barely 500 metres from his home. He suffered severe damage to his spine (eight fractures), leading to loss of motor, and sensory functions, as well as multiple fractures on his right leg and left arm.
Over the past nine (9) months, Gandhi has waged a very brave fight for his dear life. He spent almost two months in the HDU at Coptic Hospital with multiple organ failure. He has shown great resilience and a strong spirit. He battled with pneumonia; failing kidneys, heart, liver, and lungs; low levels of oxygen, heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature. He has confronted his condition with resilience, and hope for recovery, despite the various blood and bone infections he experiences now and then.
Gandhi reminds me of my younger self, carefree, adventurous, and a go-getter. He needs a lot of support, and I’m asking you to chip in to support his medical care.
His treatment is gradual and expensive. Gandhi’s mother, Naomi Barasa, is a comrade in the struggle. She was awarded The Sir Henry Brooke Award for Human Rights Defenders in 2018. Her impact on human rights in Kenya is undeniable. She was instrumental in the enactment of the Sexual Offences Act in 2006, the adoption of the Housing Bill 2011, the Evictions and Resettlement Bill, and the Slum Upgrading, and Prevention Policy. She also played a role in the push for the Kenyan Constitution in 2010.
My family, and l shall climb Mount Kenya in August. We shall be doing so to celebrate Gandhi’s resilience, and his journey to recovery. The climb is open to anyone who is willing to join us. All the money raised in this campaign will go to Gandhi’s medical care. Donate here: PAYBILL: 891300

Gutted. Thaer al-Rahal was one of 750 migrants who boarded a trawler & ended up in one of the Mediterranean's deadliest shipwrecks. He needed to get to Europe to earn money to save his 4 yr old Khalid, who has leukemia & needs a bone marrow transplant. Thaer did not survive. 💔
@TheStarBreaking Because they didn’t give him a hearing before that revocation. Seems like a way to deal with the pending litigation and cure lack of hearing. Wouldn’t be surprised if they gave him a hearing next and then revoke the recognition if they have grounds.
Monetary incentives for our school girls to get pregnant and married status to revert to single! And more than one person probably thought this was a brilliant idea! #KenyaKwanzaLadiesFirst
So #Mudavadi’s promised earthquake was his joining UDA. Let’s not forget that he was once TNA’s presumptive presidential candidate till #Masheteni happened. We aren’t saying he’s a gullible Nairobian. ‘History repeats itself first as a tragedy, then as farce’ #Tusidanganyane
