There’s been a Raisina Dialogue in Delhi every March since 2016. It’s the brainchild of Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Narendra Modi’s long-serving foreign minister. Like other global gatherings, it brings together political leaders, senior military commanders, prominent business people, leading journalists, and think tank chiefs to discuss key issues; but it’s better than Davos because it’s not so dominated by politically correct plutocrats; and better than the longer-running Chinese Boao Forum, because it not essentially an exercise in homage to the host government.

I started attending virtually, during the pandemic, and have been there in person since 2022.

फ्रीबीज ( मुफ्त सुविधाओं के वादे) को लेकर सुप्रीम कोर्ट की सख्त टिप्पणी. चीफ जस्टिस ने कहा कि कई राज्य सरकारे भारी कर्ज और घाटे में होने के बावजूद मुफ्त योजनाएं बांट रही हैं।अगर सरकारें मुफ्त पैसे, बिजली, दूसरी सुविधाएं देती रहेंगी, तो आखिर इनका खर्च कौन उठाएगा!जाहिर है कि इसका बोझ टैक्स देने वाले लोगों पर ही पड़ेगा।

SC ने कहा कि सरकारों को सिर्फ मुफ्त चीजें बांटने के बजाय रोजगार पैदा करने पर ज्यादा ध्यान देना चाहिए। *चीफ जस्टिस ने कहा कि सवाल यह भी है कि अगर राज्य मुफ्त खाना, मुफ्त साइकिल, मुफ्त बिजली और सीधे कैश ट्रांसफर देती रहेंगी, तो विकास के कामों के लिए पैसा कहाँ से आएगा!

दुखद सच्चाई है कि सरकारी स्कूल में बच्चों को पढ़ाना लोगों के लिए एक मजबूरी जैसा है। स्कूलों की हालत ख़राब है। इसी बात का फ़ायदा ज़्यादातर प्राइवेट स्कूल उठाते हैं।

ये स्कूल मनमर्ज़ी की फ़ीस लेते हैं। हर साल फ़ीस बढ़ाते हैं, अनाप-शनाप फंड के पैसे फ़ीस में जोड़े जाते हैं। किताबें-कॉपी-जूते-ड्रेस सब स्कूल बेचता है। माँ-बाप ज़मीन-गहने बेचकर बच्चों को पढ़ाते हैं

हमें सरकारी शिक्षा व्यवस्था को मज़बूत बनाना होगा और ये प्राइवेट स्कूलों की मनमानी पर लगाम लगानी होगी।
