I don't think that's what's happening here.

UFC White House critics are not being salty hipsters that their sport is on a big stage. UFC has been mainstream for years.

What people don't like is having a major sporting organization push a politician and align with a political party – especially one that's been controversial. Sporting organizations should be neutral.

And yes, unfortunately, the fighters' stories are getting lost in all of this. But again, I don't think the criticism is centered around the sport "making it big" and MMA fans feeling some type of way about it.
