Most people I talk to think patching means Windows Update. That's half the job. The browser, the PDF reader, the runtimes, the odd tool someone installed in 2021 — that's where the gaps sit. If you can't list what's installed, you can't say you're patched.

Most invoice fraud I see doesn't involve a hacked mailbox at all. It's a lookalike domain and a polite email saying bank details changed. Rule that stops nearly all of it: any change to payment details gets verified by phone, on a number you already had. Not the one in the email.

If you only turn on MFA in one place, make it your email. Not your bank. Email is the reset key for every other account you own — bank included. Lose it and the attacker doesn't need your banking password, they just ask for a new one.
