While no precise national or state numbers are available on how many three-sport high school athletes have participated in recent years, they have become increasingly rare, replaced by year-round specialization in one sport to pursue college scholarships. For many, time spent on a second or third high school sport is replaced by club team commitments and elite training in the chosen sport.
