Research and Instruction Librarian for Music and the Fine Arts Ellen Ogihara resigned from St. Olaf on Friday, Jan. 29. Reporting on Ogihara's resignation is ongoing.
Dr. Maria Pabón, director of the Taylor Center for Equity and Inclusion, will serve in King’s former role in an interim capacity in addition to her current position, while the College conducts an official job search this spring.
Vice President for Equity and Inclusion Bruce King has resigned from the College, effective Feb. 28, 2021, as announced by President David Anderson in a Feb. 1 email to all St. Olaf students.
After leaders of Oles Against Inequality, PDA and Bruce King spoke at the “7 Feet for 7 Shots” march on Sept. 4, members of the Cultural Union for Black Expression spoke against St. Olaf administration’s influence on the event and failure to address institutionalized racism.
In the most recent Student Government Association (SGA) election on April 17, only 28 percent of St. Olaf students voted online — 72 percent failed to cast their votes for a candidate or executive pair.
