Several areas in Metro Manila recorded acutely unhealthy to very unhealthy air quality on Tuesday morning amid elevated levels of fine particulate matter or PM2.5, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Environmental Management Bureau-National Capital Region said.
As of 6 AM, Parañaque recorded the highest Air Quality Index (AQI) at 296, classified as "acutely unhealthy." It was followed by Quezon City (Ateneo) at 241, Las Piñas at 237, Manila at 231, and Malabon at 229.
Other areas with "acutely unhealthy" air quality were Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, San Juan, Taguig and Valenzuela.
Navotas and Pateros, meanwhile, recorded “very unhealthy” air quality with AQIs of 153 and 172, respectively.
Makati was classified as “unhealthy for sensitive groups” at 111, while Quezon City (SMPH Commonwealth) recorded “fair” air quality at 98.
DENR EMB-NCR urged the public to limit prolonged outdoor activities and to monitor air quality and issue further advisories as necessary. (Facebook/EMB National Capital Region)
