I’m often asked how to make a difference in govt actions on healthcare.
My simple answer, make it an election issue. Voters usually rate HC a top 3 priority. But unlike priorities like the economy, govts rarely get elected on HC platforms.
Change that, we change healthcare.
My suggestion for healthcare organizations and faculties who are not successful in recruiting people from underrepresented groups is to do an analysis of the culture and supports within your institution rather than assume there is a lack of people who are eligible.
Today's my birthday & all I want is for our governments to recognize that:
-public healthcare is worth saving
-liberation from ageism & ableism is possible
-we can get through the pandemic if we're all in this together
-people matter more than profits!
Let's keep pushing ✊🏽
So why hasn't Quebec done more to improve indoor air quality in schools and public spaces? Why the dithering on making masks a personal choice?
It's not like our health system has any latent capacity right now...

My dad was diagnosed with early on-set Alzheimer’s disease 8 years ago. We weren’t sure if he would be able to walk me down the aisle but he did.We weren't sure if he would be able to do the father and daughter dance but he did. Never underestimate the power of hope, faith & love
“This is how you change the world, the smallest circles first… That humble energy, the kind that says, ‘I will do what I can do right now in my own small way,’ creates a ripple effect on the world.”
-Richard Wagamese
September is world Alzheimer’s Month. Greg Veenstra helps Vince with a number of exercises to help with visual spatial perception. Stairs become problematic so it's important to focus on these types of movements. #Endalz

If Toronto is going to be getting a slew of new councillors, every candidate has to take only public transit from now till election time.
Take the weekend shuttle busses along Line 1. Get to downtown from Kingston Rd at 8am. Try to get across Eglinton.
Seriously man. Just give me a school, or a residence with a kitchen and the resources to spin Joshna magic for a year, and I will show you a transformed community bursting with positive outcomes. I am so tired of seeing student food security be dismissed by administration.
Blown away by the support and the incredible community behind Vince and our family. Thank you to our committee, sponsors, and those who donated 🙂 We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you. So excited to announce we’ve raised $42.435 for Carefor.
Snapshot from the frontline:
I am covering for a colleague with covid. There are residents off with covid. We are admitting patients with covid. Have encountered many with long covid.
This virus continues to cause major disruption in our healthcare system. #MaskUp
Today Ontario NDP caucus announced critic files and I will continue to be Critic for Indigenous and Treaty Relations, as well as Northern Development.
It’s also an honour to be the first First Nations Deputy Leader in Ontario.
