I am inching closer to 40 and I am getting ready for my first college finals week in 15 years. Both things excite and terrify me in strange and wonderful ways. Cross your fingers and toes for me.
Each time I tell the truth about myself (especially ones that scare me) I get more whole, more free, get another 60 miles down the road from the ill-fitting structure others built for me. It never fails to bring me back home to the presence of God, of Divine Love within my body.
Today would have been George Floyd’s 47th birthday. He should still be alive today celebrating another year with his family and friends. We need justice and to ensure that this never happens again—starting with banning chokeholds and creating a national standard for use of force.
Christians, God could have shown up as a white millionaire dude who was haughty, ableist, ageist, chauvinistic, and racist. But -pay attention- chose to come as a man of color, truth-teller, subversive healer, rejected by the religious right, and lynched by them before he was 40.
When the Constitution was written...
Guns fired 1 round a minute, not 100.
Black folks were considered 3/5ths human.
Women couldn’t vote.
And we executed 14-year-olds.
So, yeah...
I believe we need to rethink some things.

I will vote against hatred & racism & misogyny & fear.

@KamalaHarris When I see the images of these dear ones, I feel the gravity; how many stories we lost, how much hard-earned wisdom we lost, all the knowledge of strength and love and resistance and grace under pressure we lost. What will be the cumulative effect on us? On our descendants?
