@k9_reaper Um... Looks to me like if anyone were in the back seat of that white car, they'd be catching as many rounds as the suspect. Good thing kids don't usually ride in the back seat or anything.... Wait...
@geofgwilliamson@jayrberry@JonVigliotti I don't doubt that's correct but who in their right mind would plan for a massive wildfire conflagration in January???
@jayrberry@JonVigliotti There is a shocking amount public agencies are prepared for. Basically anything that doesn't happen twice a year almost nobody is actually prepared for. Most places are maxing out just trying to sustain normal operations at this point.
@editor_jeannie @jayrberry@JonVigliotti No argument from me at all! I completely agree with you about the use of resources, taxes, and the priorities are backwards to say it politely. Even in Oregon where we do have prescribed burns it's not enough or efficiently managed. Lots of problems we'll all pay the price for.
@editor_jeannie @jayrberry@JonVigliotti And I'll add desalinization exists but not in a scale that's energy or resource positive. It takes more to capture the water without the salt than we get for having that water.
@editor_jeannie @jayrberry@JonVigliotti Resource intensive machinery destroying environment killing option possible. If we could figure out how to take the salt out, congratulations you just solved climate change and world hunger in basically one go.
@jayrberry@JonVigliotti How is it inexcusable? Normally they have like 4 inches of rain by now and they've had less than 1 inch of rain. Where else is water supposed to come from? With this much fire, water is a finite resource anyway and no water supply could ever hope to keep up.
care that could easily end up with... Complications from denied claims. The level of cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy is astounding. If we gave a fuck at all about peoples health, we need to do a hell of a lot more about keeping people out of situations that require insurance.
The country has rallied around Luigi (rightfully so) for UH being evil and denying claims causing untold harm (they do.) Yet almost none of these people are doing anything to mitigate respiratory infections (flu, COVID, rsv, etc) causing thousands to fall ill and require medical
@covidbagofdicks Not just eggs but how many things are made with eggs? We're talking breads, desserts, many breakfast items, puddings, mayonnaise based sauces, pasta noodles - this is a massive threat to food security.
@Lead_Flinger Your neck will thank you for the bump helmet. I spent a while wearing kevlar on my head and I've had neck problems for the last decade. (I'm 40s now.) When I turn my head left and right I hear grinding in my neck that sounds like sand crunching. That's fine right?
Drones are cool and all, but can we please get back to calling out CEOs for their moral and ethical failures that have catastrophic impacts on thousands of Americans every year?
@JoshRainerGold He ended up later taking his own life as he had lost everything - or so the pain made it seem. Chronic pain after surgery is no joke and ruins lives all the time. Lasik is another example that has many such stories.
@JoshRainerGold I met a man who was fit and healthy and successful until he had back surgery. He lived in debilitating pain for years while he tried to have corrective surgeries, then lawsuits, and finally he snapped and took a gun to try and kill his surgeon. He failed, caught charges for it.
