We coordinate youth alcohol and drug prevention education and provide recovery resources in Huntsville, Madison, and all of Madison County in Alabama.

Addiction is a disease. Drugs affect the pleasure/reward center in your brain. After a certain point, the brain recognizes the drug as an essential. When refraining from use, the brain and body will react negatively. Imagine the feeling of not eating for days, but so much worse.

Graces of Gurley's Kathryn's Kids Event on Saturday was a lot of fun. There was a big crowd of families from throughout the community enjoying the outdoors. We were glad to see our partner The CARE Center and talk of more future collaborations.

David thoroughly enjoyed @HsvPolice Department's Back to School Bash on Saturday. There was a great turn out. David got to talk with Mayor Tommy Battle, Officer Tucker, and Michelle Linville of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the TN Valley.

He also got to hang out with Huntsville Havoc mascot Chaos. We love seeing the kids interact with Ozzie. He was very popular, and we had help from a little puppeteer. Thank you to HPD for getting the community together to have some fun before the beginning of school.

We had lunch while discussing the dangers of vaping and fentanyl, played a round of drug facts Bingo, and had a bean bag toss competition (David was brutally defeated 😆). We even used our legs a bit for a leaping competition. Pictures coming soon. #LEAPforYourLungs #thepdfc
