*Storm update* swamped with work today. I'm cutting video tonight....
The storm threat is alive and my thinking hasn't changed but I will explain more and why tonight. The model shift isn't a surprise if you understand the "trigger" to this has been flirting the whole time
First sunrise at the summit this morning. These excellent conditions won’t last long however as extreme winds will be returning to the summit as soon as tomorrow
@NycStormChaser The @NWSNewYorkNY had 2-3 inches of rain forecasted 24 hours ago with watches put into place late last night. Challenging forecast but to say it was perfectly forecasted is just not true. Especially when we’re talking about a highly populated area like NYC
I don’t think Meteorologists should be deflecting all of the blame or taking a victory lap given that this forecast came out only 24 hours ago and was severely underdone. Uncertainty needs to communicated more clearly given the large variations in model guidance
Heavy rain w/flash flooding possible late tonight-Sat. 2-3" of rain is forecast with locally higher 3-5" possible. This could lead to isolated to scattered flash flooding, but confidence is low as to where exactly the heaviest will fall. #NYwx#NJwx#CTwx
