Why for decades have we had an erosion of value in many jobs. What’s hollowing out the middle class?

Why is it that a teacher or a nurse can’t afford a home in the district they teach? Why can’t a normal person get a job in their town that pays for a decent life? Why can’t a graduate of university walk into a suitable role?

If you want to cure a sick patient you need to understand what’s causing their symptoms.

6 reason…

1. Stimulus - cheap debt and money printing causes uneven inflation… making most things more expensive but not labour.

2. Bank lending sucks capital from an economy if it isn’t growing. Banks don’t lend money from savers. Banks lend money into existence based on the rules of their banking license. Every loan is new money that arrives into the system with interest payments that need to come out. A bank creates £100K mortgage with a £150K repayment schedule… that additional £50K of interest payments has to come from the existing economy. If the real economy isn’t growing and becoming more productive then the interest payments just suck the life out of the economy.

3. Technology - simplifies, automates and outsources work to foreign countries … all devaluing the worth of labour.

A couple of decades ago you bought your travel from a human working behind a desk in a retail store. You bought stocks and shares from a stockbroker in an office. Your Christmas shopping consisted of many things made locally and sold in a local retail store. None of that is true today.

4. Overproduction of elites - people doing £50K of training (debt) for something the market isn’t asking for.

This creates unproductive debt. It’s like spending £50K building a house that doesn’t meet building standards and needs to be torn down. The debt remains but nothing of value was produced… except for elite expectations!

Elite expectations is when someone gets a qualification and expects to be earning a lot of money despite not having a marketable skill. This results in political upheaval.

5. Untargeted migration - bringing millions of people into the country without demand for their labour creates downward pressure on jobs.

If a country is struggling to find jobs for its young people (youth unemployment of 20%!) Bringing in low skilled migrant labour by the millions compounds the problem and leaves you with a generation of very disgruntled people.

6. Foreign ownership. A poor performing economy that is highly taxed results in foreign ownership. The UK doesn’t own its iconic brands anymore. Rolls Royce - German, Cadbury - American, London’s iconic buildings - Norwegian and Qatari. This means anything that generates a profit sends that profit overseas.

All that is required to move money overseas now is the foreign ownership of the IP- brand, database, media assets etc. High taxes locally results in foreign ownership. Conversely, lower taxation results in local ownership of global assets.

These 6 issues are the things that have caused the hollowing out of the middle classes. They all can be changed through policy.

You gave up Hong Kong but backed Taiwan. Now you’re letting China build the largest embassy in Europe on top of London’s fiber-optic cables. We gave you Five Eyes. You gave Beijing a SIGINT platform in the heart of the City.

Gibraltar. Three hundred years. Actual sieges. Now the Spanish run your border checks.

You lost South Africa but kept the Falklands so we can overfly the Magellan Strait. Argentina could probably take that with rowboats today.

Your king kept ownership of the Canadian, Australian and New Zealand navies to fill the gaps. Those navies are now a laughing stock.

Your warships and bombers patrolled the GIUK gap. Now you don’t have enough but you also don’t want us buying Greenland. Fine. You do it. With what?

We gave London the @IMOHQ to regulate shipping, you backed the EU agenda to carbon tax every ship to build woke UN slush fund.

Iran closed Hormuz. In the ‘80s, 540 ships got hit. Lloyd’s never blinked. Because your navy was there. Now Lloyd’s cancels. Because it isn’t.

You scrapped your only amphibious ships. Sold them. To Brazil. You have more admirals than warships.

You built two light carriers but they keep springing leaks and you don’t have enough escort ships to support them.

The English Channel. Stopped Napoleon. Stopped Hitler. Now you can’t stop rubber dinghies.

You had one job.

Have the warships, diplomatic backbone and insurance to support shipping through the straits.

That’s it. That’s all we asked.

Now hundreds of ships are stuck in the Persian Gulf and the world is blaming us.

Too many are too polite to say this.

But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination.

The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination.

Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions.

And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals.

I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook.

Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation.

Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration.

It was an act of domination and therefore division.

It shouldn’t happen again.

UK electricity generation has fallen 25% from its peak in 2004. Per capita electricity consumption is a third the level of the United States. The UK has the most costly electricity in the world. Half the gas we consume comes from the Norwegian side of the North Sea basin. The residual imported LNG has 4x the carbon footprint of supplying our own. And most depressingly of all the result is a deteriorating UK Balance of Payments, a weaker pound, and a bigger hit to the cost of living. And still the useful idiots want to further constrain UK energy production through high taxes, banning new licences, and gold-plating new energy infrastructure. Their luxury beliefs are behind the awful household disposable income growth of recent years. 🤡.
