🚩 Spiritual Sojourn: Our Family Trip from Bangalore to Madurai Rameshwaram & Srirangam We just got back from an incredible, soul-stirring journey through the heart of Tamil Nadu! From the grand corridors of Madurai to the sacred shores of Rameshwaram and the divine vibes of Trichy, it was a trip to remember. Here is our full itinerary and budget breakdown for anyone looking to do this "Temple Run": 🚆 Day 1: The Gateway of Madurai We kicked off our journey from Bangalore SBC via the Tuticorin Express (9:00 PM), pulling into Madurai by 7:30 AM. Quick Refresh: We took a lodge near the temple for a 3-hour freshen-up (₹1100). Divine Darshan: The Meenakshi Amman Temple was breathtaking. The ₹50 special entry ticket saved us hours of waiting. Foodie Note: Breakfast at Gauri Restaurant was a highlight—the food was excellent! 🌊 Day 1 Afternoon: Heading to Rameshwaram After checking out, a ₹300 auto ride took us to the MGR Bus Stand. We caught a frequent AC bus (₹175) and reached Rameshwaram in about 3 hours and 45 minutes. The Rituals: We started with a dip in the ocean, then hired a guide (₹200 per person) for the 22 Kund Bath. It took about 25 minutes. Main Temple: A ₹100 ticket got us Darshan in roughly 45 minutes. We ended the day with dinner at the hotel. 🌅 Day 2: Dhanushkodi & The Pivot to Trichy Sphatik Linga Darshan: We were at the East Gate by 3:30 AM. With a ₹200 ticket, we finished the Darshan by 5:00 AM. The Edge of India: We hired an auto for ₹1000 that took us to Vibhishan Temple, Dhanushkodi, Ramsetu, and the Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple (where we saw the floating stones). The Change in Plan: Instead of the train, we took a bus back to Madurai, then hopped on another bus to Trichy (₹150). Trichy Vibes: We arrived at the new Panjapur Bus Stand by 5:00 PM. It’s a great facility! We took a city bus to Srirangam, but the main Darshan was closed due to an ongoing event. After dinner, we headed back to the bus stand for our final leg. We reached Bangalore this morning via an AC Sleeper bus (₹650), exhausted but full of gratitude. 🙏✨ A friendly warning: Be careful where you eat near the Rameshwaram bus stand—our breakfast experience there was quite horrible! Stick to the highly-rated spots near the temple instead.
