@MRcreepernoir @Equil_Nox @minamortem Not every punk was right and not every punk was left. Punk was anti politics, left wing in the 70s is definitely not the same as today. Joe Strummer made fun of gay people countless times, even calling them fairies. In the 90s he called trans people "cross-dressers or whatever."

Even the "Ramones came first" argument doesn't work here, they weren't left wing either.

Yes, some goths took influence from them in style perhaps, but they were not a subculture referred to as Goths like the music subculture that originated from post-punk.

But you're right, posing is an interesting thing.. I don't understand it.

Not e-girls dressing up in shein clad outfits, or overly political Americans with tattoos and piercings telling you what you should vote. It's always about the music, it's a British subculture.

I see a lot of goth larping e-girls wearing Type O Negative shirts screaming about abortion rights, Peter Steele was a right winger against abortion.

Goth was a subculture that derived from Punk, but it wasn't a style or political.. it was about liking goth music. The dark style was a choice.
