One thing that perplexed me in all of this is why the GOP doesn't realize that a robust transit system helps people who never ride it once. Getting people out of cars helps those who still drive and reduces maintenance costs on the roads themselves.

@DPearsonPHL Buy back the rights to the name "Pennsylvania Railroad" but use it as a state owned agency. Build out an electrified network. Run a fuck ton of trains. Make it cheap. People will flock to it, take pressure of the roads... Nothing but upside.
