Also that's just the verbiage used in these contexts. There are too many sub-skills to just go through each one.

@JustOneMorePaul In overwatch, ppl often consider the fundamental skills to be positioning, game sense, and mechanics. Ppl who've mastered at least one of the 3 are usually low gm. It's not enough to just know about the skill, mastering is the important thing here. Otherwise you're still learning

@JustOneMorePaul The harder the game, the higher the bar for what the fundamentals are, the lower the percentage of ppl who are past that point. Them being at the top 5% doesn't change anything if there are A LOT of fundamentals.

@JustOneMorePaul Overwatch is a difficult game with a lot of mechanics, interactions between abilities, and screen clutter. You have to get rly good at those before you can add nuance and thought to your gameplay. That "nuance" is probably what op is referring to as "actually playing the game".
