Could You Recognize the Messiah Without the Tanakh?
The Bible Jesus preached was not the New Testament.
It had not yet been written.
The Scriptures He read, memorized, loved, and taught were the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings. In Jewish tradition, these three sections are known together as the Tanakh.
That simple fact raises an important question.
If we want to understand the Messiah, shouldn't we begin where He began?
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus continually appealed to the Hebrew Scriptures. His teaching was never detached from them. It was saturated with them.
When Satan tempted Him in the wilderness, Jesus answered every temptation with Scripture.
"Man shall not live by bread alone..." (Deut. 8:3; Matt. 4:4)
"You shall worship the LORD your God..." (Deut. 6:13; Matt. 4:10)
"You shall not put the LORD your God to the test." (Deut. 6:16; Matt. 4:7)
Not philosophy.
Not tradition.
Not personal experience.
Only,
"It is written."
When asked about marriage, He went back to the beginning.
"Have you not read...?" (Matt. 19:4)
"...the two shall become one flesh." (Gen. 2:24)
When asked the greatest commandment, He began with Israel's central confession.
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one." (Deut. 6:4)
Then He continued,
"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart..." (Deut. 6:5)
and immediately joined it with,
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Lev. 19:18)
When He announced His ministry, He opened Isaiah.
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me..." (Isa. 61:1-2; Luke 4:16-21)
When He cleansed the Temple, He appealed to the Prophets.
"My house shall be called a house of prayer..." (Isa. 56:7)
"...but you have made it a den of robbers." (Jer. 7:11)
When criticized for eating with sinners, and again when defending His disciples, He quoted Hosea.
"I desire mercy, and not sacrifice." (Hos. 6:6)
When asked for a sign, He answered,
"No sign... except the sign of Jonah." (Matt. 12:39-40)
When speaking of the rejected Messiah, He declared,
"The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone." (Ps. 118:22)
When revealing David's greater Son, He asked,
"The LORD said to my Lord..." (Ps. 110:1)
When challenged about the resurrection, He built His argument on God's own words to Moses.
"I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." (Ex. 3:6)
His conclusion was simple.
"He is not the God of the dead, but of the living." (Matt. 22:32)
Even from the cross His words flowed from the Psalms.
"My God, My God..." (Ps. 22:1)
"Into Your hand I commit My spirit." (Ps. 31:5)
This was not occasional.
It was His pattern.
❖ A Very Jewish Way to Teach
First-century Jewish rabbis did not establish authority by inventing something detached from the Scriptures. They reasoned from the text God had already given.
Jesus did the same.
Again and again He asked,
"Have you not read...?"
That question appears repeatedly throughout the Gospels (Matt. 12:3, 5; 19:4; 21:16, 42; 22:31).
He also repeatedly declared,
"It is written."
And He affirmed,
"The Scripture cannot be broken." (John 10:35)
Those are not the words of someone minimizing the Hebrew Scriptures.
They are the words of someone who regarded them as the very Word of God.
❖ The Apostles Continued the Same Pattern
The earliest followers of Yeshua were Jews who believed Israel's Messiah had come.
They did not ask people to abandon Moses and the Prophets.
They proclaimed Him from them.
Peter preached from Joel, Psalm 16, and Psalm 110 (Acts 2).
Stephen retold Israel's history beginning with Abraham and Moses (Acts 7).
Paul entered the synagogues and,
"reasoned with them from the Scriptures..." (Acts 17:2)
Luke continues,
"...explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Messiah to suffer and to rise from the dead." (Acts 17:3)
Those Scriptures were the Tanakh.
The New Testament was still being written.
❖ The Messiah's Greatest Bible Study
After His resurrection, Jesus met two discouraged disciples on the road to Emmaus.
He could have revealed Himself immediately.
Instead, He opened the Scriptures.
Luke records,
"Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted to them... the things concerning Himself." (Luke 24:27)
Later He expanded the lesson.
"Everything written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." (Luke 24:44)
That threefold description was the traditional Jewish way of referring to the entire Tanakh.
Notice where Jesus began.
Not with miracles.
Not with personal testimony.
Not with new revelation.
With Moses.
Then the Prophets.
Then the Psalms.
The risen Messiah's greatest Bible study began with the Hebrew Scriptures.
❖ The Invitation Hidden in Plain Sight
The New Testament never asks us to leave the Tanakh behind.
It continually sends us back to it.
Again and again, Jesus and His apostles assume that the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings are the foundation upon which everything else rests.
Paul opens Romans by describing the gospel as something
"...promised beforehand through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures." (Rom. 1:2)
Jesus Himself declared,
"Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." (Matt. 5:17)
The Messiah who walked the roads of Galilee continually opened the scrolls of Israel.
The Messiah who conquered death began His greatest lesson with Moses.
The apostles proclaimed Him from the Hebrew Scriptures before a single New Testament book existed.
That leaves us with a question that deserves careful consideration.
If Jesus continually appealed to the Tanakh...
If He declared that "the Scripture cannot be broken"...
If He taught that Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms testified about Him...
Shouldn't we know those Scriptures as well as He did?
Perhaps the deepest understanding of the Messiah begins by opening the very Book He opened.
Because the Bible Jesus preached was the Bible that pointed to Him.
Awesome HSA strategy:
Invest $5,000 in your HSA.
Pay $4,000 of medical expenses out of pocket over the years—and save every receipt.
Let the HSA grow to $10,000 over time.
Then, reimburse yourself $4,000 tax-free using those old receipts.
You still have $6,000 growing tax-free for future medical expenses.
You got reimbursed for every dollar you spent… and ended up with more in your HSA than you started with.
That’s the power of tax-free compounding.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
-------------------
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen

Who believes the goal was to have 8 years of Obama and 8 years of Hillary and by the end of the 16 years America was going to be so far gone that they would be able to usher in Socialism across the country and end America as we know it?
And Donald Trump destroyed their plan?✋🏼

"We're going to see 10-person billion-dollar companies pretty soon."
"If I were 22 right now, I'd feel like the luckiest kid in history."
Most people will read this, feel inspired for 3 minutes, and go back to what they were doing.
The ones who act will build a money making machine this weekend.

HISTORY LESSON ON YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY CARD:
Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn’t know this. It’s easy to check out, if you don’t believe it. Be sure and show it to your family and friends. They need a little history lesson on what’s what and it doesn’t matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are FACTS.
Up until the 1980's, Social Security cards expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes.
Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION" message was removed.
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. His promises are in black, with updates in brackets.
1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary [No longer voluntary],
2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program [Now 7.65% on the first $90,000, and 15% on the first $90,000 if you’re self-employed],
3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year [No longer tax deductible],
4.) That the money the participants put into the independent ‘Trust Fund’ rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program [Under Johnson the money was moved to the General Fund and spent], and
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income [Under Clinton & Gore up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed].
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month — and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to ‘put away’ — you may be interested in the following:
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent ‘Trust Fund’ and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the ‘tie-breaking’ deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US
AND MY FAVORITE:
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?
A: That’s right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!
Now, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it! If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. Maybe not, though. Some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn’t so — but it’s worth a try.
How many people can YOU send this to?
The common practice of doctoring criminal arrest records by changing the race of Black and Brown offenders to White is an insidious racist strategy designed to conceal the disproportionate criminal activity committed by Black and Brown perpetrators at the expense of the White race! This must stop now!
Orwell's most brilliant observation in "Nineteen Eighty-Four" was that reducing a person's vocabulary also reduces his capacity to think.
Reading old or difficult literature will unleash the full potential of your mind.

This woman woke up at 4 AM in 20° cold, worked out for two hours, faced a packed college Monday… and her first thought?
“I woke up this morning. I’m healthy. I get to move my body. I get to learn. And above all—Jesus loves me. Not because of anything I’ve done. Just because I’m His.”
No complaints. Just tears of gratitude.
A beautiful reminder: The greatest privilege isn’t the workout, the degree, or the sunrise—it’s waking up known and loved by our Creator.
If you’re breathing today, you’re already blessed beyond measure.
Don’t let the noise steal your thankfulness.
He loves you more than you’ll ever grasp.
Oh my God ..this is a church in Congo 😭😭.
May God have mercy on us ..who seek comfortability than God.
This are people it regardless of the building and it's raining they are on their knees praying and worshipping God in a sanctuary.
You know what wrecked me when I was converting to Christianity?
Jihad is literally the gospel in reverse. Once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it.
The gospel says Christ shed His blood for YOU.
Jihad says you shed your blood for ALLAH.
Jesus lays down His life to save His enemies. Jihad calls you to take the lives of enemies in pursuit of God's favor.
Christianity says the Shepherd dies so the sheep can live. Jihad says the sheep die hoping the Shepherd accepts them.
They are mirrors. One is grace, the other is striving.
One says, "It is finished." The other says, "Do more."
Jesus never asked me to earn God's love with my blood, he proved God's love by shedding His own.
That's why the cross changed everything for me. Jesus didn't come to tell us how to die for God.
He came to die for us so we could truly live. PRAISE GOD! I AM FREE! Now, we need to make all the Muslims Christian.

One of the greatest evidences that Christianity is true is this:
The Bible doesn't flatter its heroes.
Noah gets drunk.
Abraham lies.
Moses loses his temper and murders someone.
David commits adultery and murder.
Peter denies Christ.
Thomas doubts.
Paul calls himself the chief of sinners.
Ancient myths make their heroes larger than life. Scripture tells the truth about mankind because its purpose isn't to exalt men. It's to exalt Christ.
When I was Muslim, I never noticed what the Quran doesn’t have.
Dates. Places. Names you can check.
Read the Quran’s stories: no chronology, almost no geography, kings called only “Pharaoh,” events floating in no particular year.
Where did the story happen? When? Under whom? The text doesn’t say. You can’t check it… which conveniently means you can’t crosscheck it.
Now read the opening of Luke 3:
“In the FIFTEENTH YEAR of the reign of TIBERIUS CAESAR — PONTIUS PILATE being governor of JUDEA, HEROD being tetrarch of GALILEE, his brother PHILIP tetrarch of ITUREA and TRACHONITIS, and LYSANIAS tetrarch of ABILENE, during the high priesthood of ANNAS and CAIAPHAS…”
SEVEN historical anchors in one sentence.
An emperor, a governor, three rulers with their exact territories, two high priests.
And people HAVE checked — for centuries, often trying to break it. Skeptics mocked Luke’s “Lysanias of Abilene” as an error…
UNTIL an inscription naming Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene turned up.
Pilate was called legend by some… until the Pilate Stone was dug up at Caesarea in 1961 with his name and title carved in it.
Luke 1:3-4 tells you why: “Having followed all things closely… that you may have CERTAINTY.”
Certainty. That’s the offer.
One book floats above history where nothing can touch it.
The other planted its flag in checkable ground and said: dig.
They dug. It’s still standing.
Praise the Lord and His mighty God-Breathed scripture.
