Damn. RIP to the best monthly music column on the internet. Without @WRambatz and his team of metallic taste makers, I wouldn't have my music taste whatsoever and might not even be this involved in artistic production and discourse... pour one out for the greats...
@ronofjosenthal I drive to Worcester like once a month to play shows/see shows, and the dungeon synth fest is definitely the best thing it has going for it
Absolutely shocked and disgusted. Incredibly scared for the future of our country. I'm still in disbelief. Don't know if we can recover from 4 years of project 2025 and swift removal of our civil liberties...
@JoeThrashnkill It's crazy how general "anti-establishment angst" just becomes boilerplate reactionary tendencies without a broader idealogy to guide it. Look at all the 80s and 90s "freethinker" bands who just became boring conservatives without fundamentally changing their beliefs.
@ronofjosenthal@TheLoserOf08 Me frantically texting the few people I know who this matters to: "Holy shit, Jon Rosenthal just joined Sadness!" Absolutely HUGE day for a very specific type of internet music fan.
Not particularly hot, but certainly devisive take: Yes are one of the greatest bands of all time, and their 6 album run from 71 to 77 is untouchably the greatest in rock history.
@MontyZander Keep going off king! Your attention to detail in both your scriptwriting and editing is really unmatched in the field right now! Your vids are brilliant examples of how to approach popular analysis without losing the vitality of "academic" work.
Essential viewing for anyone interested in the progression of the video essay as an effective analytic tool. Monty continues to demonstrate a mastery of pacing, clarity, and metanarrative construction. Highly recommend!
#AlanWake2 is a grim survival horror game, an emotional mental illness simulation, a psychological twister that uses the history of its creators to punish and reward a player for overthinking, and a celebration of the artistic spirit.
And I don't know how to talk about it

Catching up on my Number Ones reading this week at work and gotta shout out the legend @tombreihan for the Infinite Jest reference in his Bad Blood writeup. Us litnerds see and appreciate you!
@Camcision If anything, I think it's more straightforward than Deleuze or any notable post colonialists. I also think Derrida is a better read than Lacan because the transcripts of lectures usually lack a certain editorial intent, which helps wrangle the argumentation.
@Camcision Amazing Chad image. I personally like the intro to Structure, Sign and play... but it is certainly dense and self-referential as all of the French post structuralists are. I don't think Derrida is uniquely bad in this regard, though.
