Anyway, I'd love to see a full list of current movies/tv series so I can decide if I want AMC+ for a year! Going to the web page didn't really show much. (9 "current & new" + another 8 movies I've already seen.)

@jc75095 @Comichistorians Grant was the ONLY one who cleverly knew how to still make Superman ACT LIKE Superman during this period. Over in the Superman books, the writers had run out of ideas. Grant saw Electric Supes as an opportunity, not a debilitating condition for the character.

@thedannistar @Comichistorians It's a dumb joke for sure, but, to be fair, comics writer superstar Peter David, if I recall, dedicated his ENTIRE "But I digress..." column when that image was released to showing it & saying nothing more than "Needs ice skates."

So, basically, SAME joke, just far more witty.

That is NOT the Supes Snyder was portraying; problem is this was NOT made clear (via filmic storytelling) until the murder of Zod. Snyder needed to take a cue from G. Morrison & set up HIS version FROM GO!

@LothWolffe @Eljhonny452 He has no moral compass. Destroying the truck was petty & un-Superman like. Stealing clothing from the clothesline. Murdering a dude. And before you defend each: This was NOT a documentary; you build better reasoning into the script, & these things CAN be fun or clever.

@LothWolffe Um...I don't know of a single comics fan, film fan, or believer in story & character that thought anything like what you said. That does NOT mean people SHOULDN'T enjoy it, but let's not pretend it's a good movie. I loved Transformers 1-3, but I admit they're TERRIBLE.

@vlhadus @SepzenoOfficial I agree w/you. But I also think the scene is terrible. It's NOT the idea, it's the execution. Most of the complaints I saw at the time were the one I had w/it: The way it's shot, edited, and blocked, it SURE looked like Clark could've saved his dad & not given away the secret.

@ericmcclung @DCUAlert Never liked letting Ra's die, yet felt they gave decent in-story reasoning. BIGGEST issue: Movie does a TON of work to make BM believable...then they introduce the Illudium Q-36 Space Modulator; it evaporates water, but DOESN'T affect the 60% waterbags STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO IT?!

@Pieces_of_Bits @Stunt_ManMik3 his directing style and editing, saying it was too fast and looked like a music video, etc. And I explicitly remember saying to that same friend mentioned earlier in this thread, "This guy just changed how movies are going to be made." And he did.

@Pieces_of_Bits @Stunt_ManMik3 Oh yeah, we knew of his resume going in...but there'd been a few of those by that time (I can't recall a single one any longer), so we had no qualms about it.
Besides, "MTV-style" directing had LONG ago taken hold thx to Tony Scott and BEVERLY HILLS COP II. Critics HATED - 1/2👇

@Pieces_of_Bits @Stunt_ManMik3 I remember seeing it in the theater. My buddy & I were studying film in college; we could immediately spot things indicating it was a 1st-time director's movie...& also things that were likely studio notes. It was a mish-mash. Yet we mostly dug it.
And his 2nd movie was PERFECT.

@ItsLennyMarx @TheVallyD No, we loved Jack, we hated the forced in Prince music and the fun thing just doesn't make sense within the context, and tone, of the movie ‐‐ nor does the Batplane posing in front of the moon or Batman wantonly killing people.
