Representation matters and my hope in sharing this is to reach some at-risk Moana youth and let them know YOU have a possible future in tech! If I can do it, so can you.

I used to circumvent these convos. and just tell people I'm Mexican. Nowadays, I will keep shoving Sāmoa, proper pronunciation and all, down your throat until you either say it back 1 time correctly or move along.
School Mom: So where are you from
Me: Samoa
Her: San Juan. Wow!
Me: No, Samoa.
Her: Huh? (Blank look)
Me: Sah-mow-ah (butchers my country name in American accent)
Them: (Blank stare)
Me: Fiji (At this point I don't care)
Her: Ah, wow that's beautiful.
Me: Yes, it is.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
"According to the national Gun Violence Archive, there have been 130 mass shootings in the U.S. so far this year."
Only 87 days have passed this year thus far so you do the math.

IT: "Guessing you have a personal machine you can use?"
Corp. MBP exhibited a phantom key strokes issues today and while I do have another machine I can use, it's a personal device and I refuse to waste its cycles on work. They don't pay for it so I ain't playing with it.
Unpopular opinion: Any engineer afraid AI will take their job must have been pretty "meh" in the first place, since any good engineer knows the job is to automate yourself out of a job and move on to automating yourself out of the next job, over & over again til the end of time.
If the AI revolution doesn't bring about productivity changes that lead us to a 4-day or even 3-day work week, then I have to wonder WTF the point of all this tech is.
#capitalism
I never take my hardware for granted. The "works on my machine" excuse also hits different when you're working with servers with far less hardware than your MBP. For example, I have 64 GB of RAM on my machine vs. 8 GB on most of my web servers.
This must be noted:
- Software Engineers in the US have an unfair advantage over those in other parts of the world.
A Macbook Pro costs 10% of a SWE's salary in the US. But it costs 100%+ of a SWE's salary in most countries around the world.
@VINdoe_smoke I know some of the components are natural so it's logical they have a shelf life but I wouldn't put it past this society. There's no business more guaranteed than death. It's inevitable.
While I'm fortunate enough to have access to decent healthcare, I must acknowledge the waste in the US COVID response. Every single 1 of these is expired. I didn't buy any of them. Somebody else could've used them! Somebody else needed them.
They say 50 is the king of internet trolls but Afroman might've just taken the cake. So long as he had visible "recording in progress" signs along the propery, does their case even stand a chance? It's the Facebook model in a different mask. I guess pigs can't read the T&Cs.
@Iole40314084 How's that saying go? "Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times."
Are there any horror or dystopian movies about the life of pets from the perspective of the pet? The "rescue" content genre always tugs at my heart strings but the idea of being a pet could be seen in many lights.
It was only a matter of time before @RSVLTS got me to open up my wallet. This is the one that did it. Here's to hoping the "Night of the Sentinels" design stays in stock for a while because I will be back if the material is suitable for tropical climates. That's a bet!
They'll get contracts which pay them well. Eventually, there will be enough active users that Kick will be forced to moderate content, issuing DMCA strikes and such. Then the 95-5 revenue split will swing in their favor because operating costs are too high.
Anyone migrating to Kick due to the lack (or lax) of content moderation i.e. being able to stream IP without express consent from the owner, is in for the same old battle. You think industries will leave this platform alone but not Twitch, YT, FB GG, etc.? Get a grip.
In fact, that seems part of the incentives, right? "Come here and stream WHATEVER you want. We don't care lol!" I can almost tell you what will happen. It starts with "top tier" streamers migrating and bringing their communities with them.
