I travel the world to uncover the people, machines, & ideas shaping manufacturing.
@DatanomixInc Loved having a chat with Chris.
One small thing @TonyGunnGlobal is the old inactive account, @TheRealWWM is the current one. Appreciate you having me on!
@tradeschoolpro Every data center is thousands of tons of steel, pipe, and conduit somebody has to physically put in and keep running. You can’t prompt your way to everything.
Steve Jobs said marketing is about values, not just features. Same in manufacturing.
Anyone can publish your spec sheet. Nobody tells the how and why behind the problem it solved and that’s what sticks.
Next time someone hits it, they remember the fix and the machine behind it.
@mattdykema Pair newer people with the experienced ones and have them document those little explanations as they come up during the work. Then you’re capturing the knowledge in context instead of trying to get 20 years of experience in one go
A customer called to remake an 18 yr old grinding wheel. and Using just its ID, the shop pulled the exact grit, bond, pressure & temps from a digital catalogue of 78,000 active parts to rebuild it.
thats some crazy efficiency
@MakinoMachine A crash doesn't just cost the spindle, it costs the week behind it while you wait on parts and a rebuild.
Collision avoidance is one of those things nobody budgets
@mattdykema money buys stuff but It doesn't buy the years it takes to grow someone who can run them, fix them, and teach
You can pour concrete fast but you can't pour experience
@FANUCAmerica Watched a shop run 40,000 titanium parts with not one robot on the floor, just quick change pallets and work loaded off machine. organising and integration is very imp
@mattdykema Manufacturing is a highly skilled art and the backbone of society, not a consolation prize for dropouts. The cultural disrespect toward the very industry that serves as our backbone is just shameful
@mattdykema i absolutely agree with this, i have visited so many shops and the reoccurring pattern is shortage of skilled people
Only shop I've seen do something real with AI was catching scrap the inspectors missed
Unlock machining flexibility with the MTSK quick change system
Keep the toolholder on the turret and just swap adapters for each job. Faster setup, less downtime and precision-machining with low run out.
We got to see the system in action at MT Marchetti
