i don’t think i’ve properly introduced myself on here so:
• hi
• i’m niki
• queer/neurodivergent weirdo
• i love star wars (duh) but especially rogue one and andor
• a bit of a history nerd
• studying graphic design (it’s my passion)
• i also make tiktoks sometimes
Casual reminder that ABC is owned by Disney—so as much as you want to tell yourself that Andor is some revolutionary anti-fascist masterpiece, remember that it is only as progressive in its messaging as they allowed it to be.
@CHARLOT21755647@isaiah_avmx Did I actually say that, though? I don’t think I’ve said anything about vote fixing or even implied it. If you got that from anything I’ve said recently, I’m not sure what to tell you because I wasn’t even thinking about it. Any dismay I’ve expressed is that S1 deserved it more
every time i come on here i seem to forget that the apps algorithm specifically shows me things that it knows will annoy me into sticking around longer than i intend to Doing Discourse into the early hours of the morning 🙃
@isaiah_avmx@CHARLOT21755647 A lot of the time it’s coming from a R1 perspective, though, at least in my experience. That isn’t inherently coming at it from a Jyncassian perspective, even if people (myself included) openly ship it. Maybe the overall vibe is different here, but it’s not the case on Tumblr 🤷♀️
@CHARLOT21755647 It comes from a love of R1 as a whole film and how I feel that Andor disregards key aspects of the beginning half of the film and Cassian’s characterisation feels inconsistent to me, etc. I genuinely wish that I enjoyed S2 more, but it’s not because of a ship.
@CHARLOT21755647 If you disagree with my takes on the show, that’s fine. If you feel like I’m trying to make you feel bad about liking it, that’s on you. My intention is generally to express frustration with how the show turned out after what I felt was a great start in S1.
@CHARLOT21755647 ...but making it about a ship or mentioning that writing has won an Emmy seems like a way for you to invalidate critique it without engaging with it. But hey, you’ve already blocked me on Tumblr, so clearly you think I’m part of the problem, too.
@CHARLOT21755647 and it’s frankly odd to characterise any of it as direct attacks on the creators themselves when it’s mostly just people venting on their social media. It’s okay if you don’t agree with someone else’s opinion on the show...
@matpolloy Hello again, my intent wasn't to devalue it, but rather to remind people to be mindful of the dichotomy when praising a show made by Disney as an anti-fascist masterpiece... or however some people around the internet talk about it.
@matpolloy Anyway this got longer than I expected, but I wanted to end on saying thank you for being respectful in your response to me. And I agree, that last bit about the conspiracy is genuinely a weird take and is worth calling out.
@matpolloy So, yeah, it's annoying to have people dismiss my genuine criticism for the show as being inherently bad faith because I have a preference for a ship. Even more so to come on here and see my posts and those of my friends taken out of context as some kind of a dunk.
