#WallaceAndGromit: #VengeanceMostFowl Discussion: "Of Course You Should See It."
Vengeance Most Fowl is a bright and cleverly hilarious watch. Aardman knew who the strongest characters of this movie were (Feathers McGraw and Gromit obviously) and gave them all the time to shine. The expression and voice the artists at Aardman are able to pull off with these characters that say nothing is phenomenal and they deserve all the credit for this film.
The story is fine but definitely felt draggy about three-fourths in. Like I said before, Feathers McGraw and Gromit really carried this one. Their interactions throughout were the most entertaining, I mean anytime Feathers McGraw was on screen I had to smile. Gromit getting jealous of the Gnome and having to put up with it was a very fun piece of it all. Seeing witty names like Onya Doorstep and Gnome Improvement? Chefs kiss.
Now, I did have two big issues with the film. Both actually really took me out of the experience and one for a little too long. I don’t want to spoil anything, so what I will say will be kind of vague just so I can get it out there. The first one, I think realistic CGI for explosions in a stop-motion project is an awful idea. And the second one, the gnome charging bit was obnoxiously annoying in an unpleasant way.
‘Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl’ is an Aardman film, so of course you should see it, but it did have some misses. That said, if you haven’t seen it yet (like myself) it will make you instantly want to go watch the short ‘Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers’ where Feathers McGraw got his start. Which by the way, was released December 1993. But what the film won't do is take Chicken Run out of my favorite Aardman film spot.
