Haven't posted in quite some time! So here's some more awesome books from my collection. Sorry for the ping @pikuma but I figure you'd appreciate the fact I have the entire set!
@pikuma I managed to snag it one day for about $18. I haven't had time to sit down and read it yet but I did flip through it and it seems pretty good. Definitely worth it if you like Windows 3.11/Win95 VB Game dev :)
@pikuma I know right! I can't believe I was finally able to complete the set. The Visual Basic book was a bit tricky to find for awhile at a reasonable price.
I enjoyed Linux greatly in the 00s.. Sure it had problems we don't have today but overall things were far more consistent and the community was very big on modification. Now we have the lovely X11 vs Wayland debacle, all of Gnome dictating how applications look.
I use FVWM3 and GTK applications are the absolute worst to get looking decent. The most egregious issue by far is the double titlebars because of how some GTK4 applications are. Thankfully Gajim for example does allow you to turn off the titlebar allow X11's native to function properly.
I would love to go back to that time again and live there forever. Mass Effect 2 also hadn't of come out yet and introduced the idea of DLC already on disc that you had to pay for yet either. Food for thought on that.
