Ox Stones, Burbage Moor, yesterday: a quiet, beautiful moment of space, in good company, as the clouds parted to make way for the sun’s brief yet warm greeting..
Today, I sat and read this book from beginning to end. So much of it resonated; the last paragraph brought me to tears. ‘Language is a building site. It is always in the process of being constructed and repaired. It can fall apart and be made again.’
Savouring the moment before opening this incredibly special book for the second time; it actually changed my life the last time I read it, a few years ago; curious what returning to it now will bring. With huge thanks to my dear friend @k_macari for gifting it to me.
Yesterday, my mum took my daughter into her arms for the first time in over a year. Afterwards, I took my mum into my arms for the first time in over a year. These moments will never ever be forgotten, now. So cherished, so tender, so very felt. Family.
Piano day. Lovely conversations with fellow pianists- inspirational- and dear friends, earlier; my ‘piano’ track is this one. I learnt my jazz through playing along to this, aged 17. In celebration of this. And @jazzteabeer .. thank you x https://t.co/RJafZvwDs5
@BlackUmfolo Thank you for asking Vuyani. It is a current and ongoing conversation, Walt has not yet published his first (truly incredible) responses so I am not sharing here; but I will when he does. Such a creative honour.
1) Pursuance. This is the title of a very special collaboration with my dear friend, artist and percussionist Walt Shaw, and his artistic response to my poems. I feel quite raw about sharing this here; it is a very nurturing project; but it is giving me much creative nourishment.
