Parliament voted to abolish blasphemy laws in 2008. Now the Government appears to be reviving them — but only to protect Islam.

The new de facto Islamic blasphemy law poses a serious threat to free speech, silencing legitimate criticism of Islam and deterring people from speaking out about issues such as grooming gangs and Islamist extremism.

In a free society, no religion should be shielded from debate or granted special protection from criticism.

The UK already has robust laws protecting people of all faiths — including Muslims — from discrimination and hate.

The Free Speech Union is mounting a legal challenge to stop the Government bringing back blasphemy laws through the back door.

This is one of the biggest fights in our six-year history, and we need your support.
