Tim Ream conceded a free-kick and was shown a yellow card for his 'challenge' on Paraguay's Miguel Almiron.
After the free-kick was taken, referee Danny Makkelie was sent to the screen by the VAR and overturned his decision, rescinding Ream's caution and instead booking Almiron, who had clearly dived.
The first VAR intervention for mistaken identity at the World Cup.

Now do the difference in value between AD Mitchell and Jared Verse.
Verse probably fetches a similar package to Sauce, if we're being honest here. This is a terrible comparison.
The Colts paid a higher draft pick price for Sauce Gardner than the Rams did for Myles Garrett:
Sauce: Adonai Mitchell, 2026 1st (No. 16 overall), 2027 1st
Garrett: Jared Verse, 2027 1st, 2028 2nd, 2029 3rd
Didn't think they'd actually have the balls to do this. Fair play.
If the first admitted breach was in December, it's likely there's more that haven't been discovered. Smart play for Southampton is probably to accept it and move on.
An Independent Disciplinary Commission has today expelled Southampton from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs after the Club admitted to multiple breaches of EFL Regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other Clubs’ training.
In addition, the Club has received a four-point deduction that will be applied to the 2026/27 Championship table.
The effect of today’s order is that Middlesbrough are reinstated into the 2026 Play-Offs and will proceed to the Play-Off Final against Hull City. The final remains scheduled for Saturday 23 May, with the kick-off time to be confirmed.

It's the nature of sport that a lot of legends don't get the hero's farewell they deserve.
Kieran Trippier is a modern NUFC legend. He was the first to buy in, he raised the standard in so many ways. He deserved his send off today and I'm privileged to have been there for it.
Will Osula was incredible today.
He's young, a lot of his touches and his play style look ridiculously awkward and really shouldn't work at all, but he's playing well, putting in maximum effort and scoring goals. We should definitely keep him around, barring a stupid offer.
Can't for the life of me figure out this formation. At least we're trying something different.
Love to see Big Nick back in the XI. Until it turns out he's playing RB.
Definitely hit some positions of need. Good class on paper. Would like to see some vet additions at WR and edge if we're going to get anywhere this season, though.
