@HRey_17@boyslovehub IKR!? Why should someone have to reveal their most personal facts simply because they play a queer role, when people don't demand the same from actors who play straight roles? Especially considering the repercussions of coming out as an actor in China...
@boyslovehub Sigh. Why do people take BL roles if this is what they think? And don't give me "he's just 15" cause when I was 15 I may have been stupid but not a toxic fascist. It's not an excuse. I just feel sorry for his costars in WOF who'll get caught in the backlash too.
@hyunsieunn@boyslovehub AGAIN, I'm not talking about censored queer stories. You seem to think that's what bromance is? I'm talking about fictional stories featuring strong male connections. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they're not as valid as your faves.
@hyunsieunn@boyslovehub So you're saying that we shouldn't be allowed to see strong male platonic friendships on screen? Isn't that just another version of homophobia creating toxic masculinity? Men can only have strong, close
rs with other men if they are gay? Straight men can't hv close friendships?
@hyunsieunn@boyslovehub And I'm not talking about The Untamed or other censored adaptations. I mean f ex Ultimate Note, Mysterious Lotus Casebook, The Blood of Youth, and most recently Wu (although that does tease the audience a bit, but it was never intended or marketed as anything except bromance).
@hyunsieunn@boyslovehub There have been some great bromance stories that were not censored (forced or not) bc they were not gay or queer to begin with, they were just about strong male platonic friendship. That's why I said bromance is not a problem *unless* it's a censored adaptation of a queer story.
@hyunsieunn@boyslovehub I don't think bromance is a problem in itself, only when it's a censored adaptation of a queer story (and in a country where queer stories not banned and the censoring is just cowardice)
