It was great to work on this project with @b_schaffner@THershewe. We find that conservatives give better responses when asked about their “mental health” compared to their mood. Interestingly, the pattern is the opposite for liberals who give a poorer assessment of their mental health than of their mood.
new article published in @PLOSONE w/ former @TuftsUniversity students @THershewe, @kava_zoe, and Jael Strell who wanted to interrogate whether conservatives really had better mental well-being than liberals. our experiment suggests reason to be skeptical.

new publication from the @TuftsUniversity Public Opinion Lab by @THershewe and Asher Smith just dropped in American Politics Research. really interesting and important work on partisan priming and rural identity! #soproud#tpol4eva

new blog post from @THershewe, @kava_zoe, and me interrogating the notion that conservatives have more positive mental health ratings than liberals. with an experiment fielded on the 2023 CES, we provide evidence that this difference may not be real. https://t.co/xRgtLLQ4H2
analyzing CES data, @THershewe, @kava_zoe and I add some context to discussions about the drop in support for Democrats among Black and Hispanic voters. we also direct attention to another trend that might be even more important in 2024. https://t.co/uJH9VpFLlm
thanks to awesome work by @THershewe, the CES now has a single shiny app where you can analyze the vote for either house or president across the entire CES time series

in two new posts for the @TuftsUniversity Public Opinion Lab Blog, Caroline Soler maps the presence of crisis pregnancy centers vs. legitimate abortion clinics across the U.S. & explores how this relates to demographics & politics

black people are much more likely than white people to be victims of police violence, yet young white Democrats are just as likely as their black counterparts to say that the police make them feel unsafe. @THershewe sheds some light on this puzzling result https://t.co/oZeEFizl5R
It's hard to believe given how wonderful this site is at providing political information, but it turns out people have turned to social media less for political engagement in the past two election cycles. New piece from @kava_zoe on the TPOL blog https://t.co/tgPwk7OUqQ
just posted on the @TuftsUniversity Public Opinion Lab blog: an exploration into the relationship between ideology and mental health. conservatives report better mental health than liberals, but we dig in a bit deeper using the 2022 CES data https://t.co/gwGJH7dpFh
Is Trump's hold over the Republican Party weaker than many think? In this new piece, we gave Republican primary voters a chance to tell us what parts of the party they identify with most and the vast majority declined to identify as Trump Republicans. https://t.co/oCv08TZBmx
In the newest @TuftsUniversity Public Opinion Lab blog post, Asher Smith and @THershewe show that priming Democrats who live in rural areas to think about partisanship diminishes their expressions of rural identity. https://t.co/LjFZnlVt1Y
