The Running Viola

Officially the @GWR fastest musical instrument over both half marathon and marathon. All raising money and awareness for the amazing @ArcoBirmCons

[The Running Viola @therunningviola]

It's official! Double @GWR Record Holder 🎻🏃🏼

I would like to thank all that supported me and @ArcoBirmCons through my journey, from rejection to the immense pain at the end of the marathon!

For now? Retirement. Unless someone wants to challenge the world record!

[The Running Viola @therunningviola]

Maybe we can find some fundraising opportunities in 2022! 😀😎

[NSPKU @NSPKU]

@Al_Rutherford @btrliverpool @NormanTricia Oh WoW - that is SO kind @NormanTricia and Alistair, Dec, Bethany and Matt. Really a nice surprise and look what you have raised! Wooooo!
First a string instrument who runs and now the amazing running Father Christmas!

[ARCO Project @ArcoBirmCons]

Absolutely wonderful news that our bass student Njabulo Nxumalo performed to a web-call of some of the most celebrated bassists in the world, from NYC to Milan to Paris to Birmingham all the way to Soweto! Thanks to those who made this happen. 🎻🌎

[ARCO Project @ArcoBirmCons]

He’s nearly at £1,000 raised! Can you help him get to that target? @BirmCons @BCUPressOffice

[The Running Viola @therunningviola]

Great work @AlistairR1995 but where was my invite to the party eh? 👏🎻😎🎶

[Alistair @Al_Rutherford]

2.6 challenge complete! 31 seconds off my target of 26:26 in a more than respectable 26:57 for 5 miles 😊 This is specifically to help ARCO student Kamogelo Maraba to realise his dreams to support him to begin studying at @BirmCons

[The Running Viola @therunningviola]

Hoping to persuade him 👀👀

[tricia rutherford @NormanTricia]

@AlistairR1995 is there a ridiculous costume of any kind involved? Good luck x

[The Running Viola @therunningviola]

Hi Alistair long-time no see! Could I tempt you back into the foam delight?? 🎻🔥

[Alistair @Al_Rutherford]

As some of you may know I was meant to be running the @LondonMarathon on Sunday raising money for @ArcoBirmCons . I’m instead doing the #TwoPointSixChallenge and running 5 miles in a target time of 26.26 minutes (....elapsed time) Please share 🌏🎻🌏

[The Running Viola @therunningviola]

@AWalters_ Now there is an idea! @AlistairR1995 can I persuade you to get the costume back on? 🎻😆

[The Blue Coat School @LiverpoolBCS]

Huge congratulations to OB @AlistairR1995 who won the Liverpool Skyline Half Marathon! Alistair crossed the finishing line in 69:50. A keen runner & talented musician, he broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon dressed as a musical instrument in 2017.

[The Running Viola @therunningviola]

3 years ago since the @btrliverpool 1/2 marathon world record attempt and the man inside the machine @AlistairR1995 has just won the 2020 Liverpool 1/2 Marathon in 69:50. Think we had more fun and had better rhythm in 2017 I must say. 🎻

He is still fundraising for @ArcoBirmCons

[ARCO Project @ArcoBirmCons]

Congratulations Alistair. Please check out his most recent fundraising attempt over at: https://t.co/29xGYcYqas

Here are four photos which sum up last weeks viola-centric activities. It was a pleasure, albeit probably the most stupid idea I’ve ever had. Anyway, we raised £1000 for @ArcoBirmCons and represented @BirmCons in all the wonderful ways possible at the viola congress 🎻
